Who do you think stays and who goes? Hard to know when we don't know who the DC or STC is going to be, but I think you could see the guys in red go.
I’d keep Compton over Sowell as TC can play 4 positions as a backup. I also hope we can re-sign Santos—he’s a very good kicker when healthy and will have all offseason for his hamstring to heal.
All the rest in red should be goners, might add Unrein to that list too.
A lot will depend on how Nagy, Fangio, Helfrich and Pace see the roster but maybe we should break this list down into starters vs depth. Another factor is we can carry 90 players right up 'til the final cut so some of these guys will be on vet minimum non-guaranteed deal simply being given a chance to make the team. Others may get a little more but still little or nothing in guarantees.
Key starters or rotation guys I'd like to see come back;
At least they didn't get our secr http:// et weapon, Tanner Gentry!!
It is THE Tanner Gentry to you, peasant.
Hottest autograph at training camp will be TG. Who wants a Trubisky jersey signed when you can get your Gentry jersey signed? The man's a legend. Okay, TC legend :-)
Depends on if Fang is back, if Fang is back I think they try and re sign Unrien; I know we the fans don't like him, but he does what Fang wants him to. If not all bets are off when it comes to the Bears FA's
Compton/Sowell can mix/match both aren't worth much imo.
I don't want Santos here, I want to see them bring in a nice young kicker w/tons of upside, shit birng in 5 for all I care, get this right.
Unrien is experienced depth, you don't cut him unless you upgrade. That doesn't mean I keep him at all costs, it just means that for the right price he has value. As far as kicker, just don't draft one, please don't draft one. Too many holes and lack of depth to be drafting a kicker. Even a 7th rounder kicker has less value than a prospect WR taken in the 7th.
The kicker is usually the team leader in points , so it's not a blow off position . The best teams invest in a great kicker , and there are some coming out I'd invest a high pick in .

All kidding aside, I really hope he can step up and be part of the 53 man roster this year.

I'm not having this debate again. We are going to have to agree to disagree. Out of the final 4 teams left, which one has a kicker they drafted? Only one. 2 were UDFA and one was drafted by another team, cut and later signed by their current team.
This is my last post about drafting a kicker. I'm just going to link back to this post.

As far as kickers go, lets look at the top 15 kickers in NFL history based on FG% (link).
A couple of things stand out to me. First, of all the active top PKs in the NFL, only one was drafted. Second, we already have the 11th highest ranked PK currently in the NFL under contract. I hope he is healthy/gets healthy.
I'd be okay w/his move to guard also. I'm not normally for moving players, but he did kind of struggle at OC last year, and I know some of that was b/c of the moving around and new qb's, but he didn't adjust well and he is a damn good OG.

He was drafted to be a G so he can certainly do that. I just hope they figure it out (who they want where) and leave the guy to learn how to be the best he can be, at that position. C or G, I don't care. I will be curious to see what they do with Hroniss Grasu who was an All-American center under our new offensive coordinator, Mark Helfrich.

I agree, don't want him to move, but I don't think it would hurt him either, but if they do it they better have an OC in mind that can actually take and hold the job.
