I would tend to agree and to that I would also add a good teacher and tactician. The biggest challenge with a Toub hire would be in his ability to hire that top OC and DC and propel this team to a new level. That's what will loom biggest in his interview and his prospects. Can be assemble the right staff. My real only fear changing Coaching staff is the dreaded switch to 4-3 again. I know we run hybrid stuff but still, we do not need another 2 year excuse of turn over of D because of the switch. No more excuses!!!
We still need to add talent in some key positions and more depth but any HC and staff coming onboard would also realize we're in good shape cap wise and we'll have two pick in the top 50 plus high picks in other rounds. We can always add talent and we have but coaching and schemes are where we've failed most.
If "whoever" does decide to revert to a 4-3 we really aren't in all that bad of shape. Hicks and Goldman could play as 4-3 DTs since one usually plays as a NT anyway. Then you have Bullard who could play DE and also play inside as 3 tech DT. DE becomes a bigger issue but RRH is 4-3 DE size and now that he's added weight Floyd might be able to handle the RDE spot. We'd need to add to that a bit but we'd have FA and the draft for that.
Kwiatkoski and Timu could easily convert to 4-3 ILBs, Trevathan is a 4-3 Will OLB and Jones a SAM 4-3 OLB and again we'd have to add to them but I could envision a starting set up like that and how I see the DL too. IMHO i could be done in one season provided we added some additional talent for a 4-3 in the offseason.
