It's still stupid to waste a year of developing your Franchise changing QB by having him handoff the ball and don't take any risk
I agree. My preference was to let him learn this year. He would still be developing, but at his own pace and in practice, he actually is used to throw.
My far less preferable alternative is that they play him but still allow him to develop on the field.
I didn't think there was a third alternative, but the Bears managed to find one. To play him and still limit his development. Genius.

He should see a balanced offense, with some trust in him. He should throw some routes, deep balls and some Options to run himself. Enough with 6 throws and 54 run Plays without much Yards.
