While Fangio may very well be a HC candidate...he's had good defenses before, better that this unit...and was not an HC candidate previously. So I have a hard time seeing it. Could be one of those Bruce Arians situations.

Maybe a better analogy would be Mike Zimmer (who's 2 years older than Vic if you can believe that) since he's a defensive coordinator who got a lot of looks but didn't get a chance until recently and he seems to have the same crusty personality as the Fang. Who knows though. Assuming this team continues to show improvement this year, I'm all in for keeping Fox around. Still, I'll try to rally behind whoever they choose to lead this team. I'm a fan. That's what I do.

We may disagree about Fox but thats all we can do really, rally around the team next year. If they continue to improve and Fox stays. I'll still watch and cheer. In the end I believe coaches aren't as important as smart talent. Get enough talent here and I could coach them to a SB. (OK maybe not.)

I'll always disagree on this. Smart talent easily gets neutralized by bad coaching. How many good players has Fox gotten rid of? Good coaches decide who plays and who doesn't. Actually, I should say any coach decides that. The good ones make the right choices. How important was Howard when he was on the bench behind Langford? The coaches are the engine that makes it work. He can't do it without talent, but his job is to get talent (along with the GM) and know who is talented and get him to play well or to get rid of him if he does not play well. (Fox has the getting rid of part down, but he keeps forgetting to do it only if they don't play well). He is a work in progress.

after the bye week is over, Fox' Job is safe until the end of the Season. Should have promoted Fangio and let him hire a DC and OC (if he wanted to). If he Fails, you clean house at the end of the year and give the new HC whatever he wants as Long as he can work with a QB and has proven that in the past.

I agree. It was a missed opportunity, but that's just not the way the Bears work.
