Born and raised in Appleton WI. Less than 30 miles from Lambeau. Been a Vikings fan since Nov. 6th 1966. Vikings played the Packers and won. Kids had been teasing me in school because I stuttered. When I mentioned the game in school the next day I realized I had shot at getting back at them. Being a big fan of purple and liking Vikings in real life didn't hurt. Anyway, the Packers were at the cusp of years of mediocrity and I jumped on the Viking ship at the right time. I know more Packer history than most Packer fans. And it annoys the hell out of them when they find out I'm right.
Anyway, good to be aboard.
And I start out as a Rookie not a Cheerleader. Cool.
It is great to have you here. Thanks (very much) for joining our board. On game days we usually have the shoutbox going during the game with some good comments. I am hoping we can have you folks join us during the Bears/Vikes games. I was thinking that could be pretty cool. Sometimes we also visit there during other sports events.
Anyway, welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!
Since I stream the games I'm usually 30-45 seconds behind so I come on at halftime and after the game. Nothing worse then knowing the outcome of a play before you see it.

Hahah I watch most games on DAZN. Buffalo and Dallas games are most popular up here.
I feel your pain, nothing like hearing "ohhhhhh great play" Or "DAMNNIT!" when on your feed your QB is just jogging out on the field lol.
Well I guess Funkytown was right for once. She told me she found a Bears board with some members who reminded her of the people on our board, but I thought she was just being weird again. Maybe once I'm finally fed up with the Vikings I'll have to consider the Bears xD. True story, I wanted to move to Chicago once upon a time. I was into architecture and tall buildings so it seemed like the perfect city lol.
Occasionally I'd make the 450 mile drive just to visit some sites and walk around and check things out. Got there at 4am once and walked around downtown. The place was a ghost town, which was sorta surreal. Big ass city that looked completely empty. It was just missing some zombies. I went and hung around on North Avenue Beach waiting for stuff to open. Thought about walking out onto that little walkway that goes out onto Lake Michigan, but jiminy christmas was it windy and cold so I had to pass.
My brother and I played a lot of MS Flight Sim back then too and the starting airport was Meigs Field, so on one trip back in 1997 we showed up to the real thing and hired a guy to fly us around the city. The guy let me take over the controls at one point and I nearly nose dived the plane right into Comiskey lol. I swear it wasn't intentional haha. I was a bit nervous and leaned in, to get a better view out the window, which made me lean into the flight yoke a bit too much, which made the plane pitch down. The pilot helped me right the ship. Later he let me land at Meigs too, but I think it was 95% him xD. Cool experience though. I landed at Meigs a 1000 times in the sim so I had some experience . Too bad the airport no longer exists.
The landing was caught on film, although you can't see much. A little bit of the runway near the end. My brother was hung over in the back so he didn't film much. It was a foggy day so our trip to the Sears Tower observation deck was ruined too. The Gophers were in the Final 4 at the time so we stopped at a bar downtown to watch it, but the bar closed at 8 or 9 or something so we drove a little further out to another bar to finish watching them lose to Kentucky.
And in 1999 I went to a Cubs game with some friends, against the Padres. Back when Sosa and Tony Gwynn were still playing. We were fans of Gary Gaetti, former Twin xD. Didn't get to see any homers, but after giving up 2 runs in the top of the 8th the Cubs rallied for 2 runs in the bottom half to win 3-2. Found some empty seats behind home plate by then.

I'm another Vikings fan over at Purple Pain. Vikings rule obviously, but I enjoy good intelligent sports talk. This could be a lot of fun a couple weeks a year when the Vikings and Bears play.. as well as during the off season... and we can all agree on our hatred of the Packers. I did live in the Chicago area for 5 years... well technically Kenosha, WI, but that's close. I was working in Libertyville at the time. I currently live in Cleveland.

But you've never experienced true freedom. For that you have to cross the dreaded Cheddar Curtain (Wisconsin state line).
I work up NE of Libertyville and have to deal with the Zombie Apocalypse (aka Packer fans) on a near daily basis.

didn't have a whole lot of money back then. That was more a marriage of necessity.
Then again, Kenosha seemed to be more fair weather country. Other than the 2 or 3 Vikings fans floating around there, it seemed to go Bears when they did well and Packers when they were doing well.

That seems to have changed. Or maybe the Bears have sucked so badly for so long it just seems so.
Maybe if the Bears become the team I think they will be it will change.
Hello Bear fans. I still reside in West Central Illinois but have been a Vikings fan since Tarkenton was the QB. (How I became a Viking fan is kind of long story that I might share sometime later) I had an office in downtown Chicago for a few years before I retired. My brother is still a huge Bears fan and we have our annual bet (our favorite 6 pack) on who will win the head-to-head match up between the Bears/Vikings. One of my best friends was a Bears fan and we shared many trips to Minneapolis for the Bears/Vikings game. Funkytown has said this is a good group to talk football with, so here I am.
I think the Bears are on a trajectory to be a contender, but I'm still not sold on Trubisky being the answer at QB. I think they are better than their record suggests and I would not rule anything out for taking the Division. If the Vikes can't pull it off, could please make sure Green Bay doesn't get it again. If you haven't figured it out yet, I am a Bears fan for at least two games every year (Green Bay) and Fuller broke my heart by dropping the INT that would have effectively won the game. Still think you are the better *team* but that pesky Rodgers is hard to overcome.
Anyways, hello to all of you and good luck in your games - except, of course, for two of them
