Im not sure what's the knock on Pace so far? And please don't give me that 'White' s*it. It was a solid pick at the time. This is his 3rd draft, and he already landed starters: Goldman, Floyd, Whitehair, Amos; decent reserves: Kwiatkoski, Bullard, Langford, jury is still out: White, Grassu (not his fault, injuries, could become very valuable) and Hall, Bush and Andre-Carson. +drafted a possible franchise qb! We didn't have anything like that in Chicago for ages.
Well lets take a look.
A QB with 13 starts, an injured DB, and 3 players from low ranked programs. All in all I like JA did a great job
All that before their first game? Talk about overracting

Gee, ya think?
The "injured DB" is healthy now and had an ankle fracture which is now healed. Such injuries are rarely career threatening. He was considered a likely 2nd rounder beforehand that Pace drafted in the 4th.
The "13 start QB" was widely considered to be the best QB prospect in the draft and isn't expected to start for at least a year, leaning behind two vets.
The "low ranked program" TE is an athletic freak with big upside who was ranked a top-5 TE prospect. Lots of quality NFL talent has come from lesser football colleges with examples too numerous to list.
Dr. Eternal Pessimist strikes again. How about we wait at least 2 seasons as is customary before we start judging?
If it works, he'll be the GM for a long while; if it doesn't, no one will have to worry about him b/c he won't be around for another chance.

it's Pace + Fox i have a problem with. it would be easier to swallow the trade rd1 if i trusted the coaches to not waste a year "developing" Mitch

Andre Reed was from a small school(same school as the OG I think), Jerry Rice small school, Marques Colston(NO's best recent WR) small school, Oh not current enough? Jahari Evans, small school, Vincent Jackson(TB WR) small school, Cortland Finnigan, Jared Allen, Tony Romo(will be a HoFr'), Joe Flacco. Small schools don't 'mean they cannot play.

Reading that reminded me that Walter Payton was from a pretty small school - Jackson State U. When we drafted Walter, I'd never even heard of it.
I give Pace credit, he has a vision and he's not afraid to bank his job on it. I really hope it works out because I've liked having him as a GM so far.
+1,000 That is EXACTLY how I see it. I sure hope he gets it done here. I like the guy, and his vision for the franchise. I don't want to sound like a jerk here, but honestly I think a significant percentage of the Bears fans are not very bright, and they have no patience. It's all about instant gratification. No patience for Pace to build with a vision for lasting long-term success versus making fan-popular moves. And not all decisions are ever going to pan out. Pace will (and has) made some mistakes. But that doesn't mean he isn't a pretty sharp GM. Even guys like Belichick make their share of mistakes. But they make enough right decisions to have a perennial winning teams.
This will be Pace's 3rd season. That really isn't a long time.
This is the way most fans " think " : " oh he went to Alabama ? he must be pretty good " ... " oh he went to Ohio State ? then I'll bet he's pretty good " ... " he went to Clemson / LSU / Michigan / USC / UCLA / Oklahoma / Texas / Oregon ? then he's probably good " .
But if he went to a 'small school ' then it's automatically " I bet he won't be that good " - then we remember that Richard Dent went to Tennessee Tech and Walter Payton went to Jackson State ... schools I know none of us had ever really heard about - yet the 'results' speak for themselves .

I'll post more later at work (if not too busy).
Tariq Cohen is from NC A&T ... HOF DE Elvin Bethea went to NC A&T. 16 seasons, over 100 sacks (unofficial count) & 8 pro bowls. Outside of that didn't do much.
