The Bears seem to be pretty thoughtful about this so far. I am glad they didn't lock up Glennon long-term until they see how he performs here. I don't see that Fox has demanded anything here. Where did you read that?
You'll never read anywhere that Fox demanded a vet QB. No Chicago media guy would say it in print and I'm not sure even Steve Rosenbloom could do more than imply it. My comment was based on the fact that Fox has never preferred or used a rookie if it could be avoided. I believe the last time that happened was with Clausen at Carolina and Fox was gone the next year.
I'm very sure John Fox doesn't want to get canned from this job come January so entrusting his paycheck to a rookie QB again is not something he'd be doing because he likes doing it. That's not to say he's alone in that regard either. A lot of NFL HCs won't start rookie QBs if it can be avoided so by having Glennon he can pretty well avoid that no matter what Pace does in the draft.
My guess though is that with Glennon onboard along with his claim that he's not just a bridge QB Pace will not spend that #3 pick on a QB. But if he's smart he might trade it to someone who does want to draft a QB and pick up some extra picks. It seems to me that this is very bad draft to reach for a QB in but a great draft to have extra picks because it's deep and talented at many other positions we do need to draft.
*Fox is a defensive coach, Pace and Fox want to show improvement this year to avoid being canned, draft gurus don't love these QBs, etc.
