The thing about having Sowell on your team is he is also OL depth. Can he not just jump in the line if needed? Or would he have to change his jersey because of the NFL's stupid jersey number police?
Bob, have you seen him in any preseason games? He’s lost like 40 pounds to make the switch.
He’s not gonna be “jumping in” the OL anymore. Way too small now.

Just an observation about Sowell. When I went to TC this year I was watching a lot of the 1 on 1 drills. One was TE vs OLB pass blocking drills. This is where the two men square off between two sets of blocking dummies and basically go at it.
Sowell basically did pretty well against both Mack and Floyd. I was pleasantly surprised. I also saw him in run blocking against both 1st and 2nd teamers in 11 on 11 drills. Again he did pretty well. Hopefully he works out. If he does and can have enough catch %, he will be a solid contributor.

Maybe he is ALL muscle and can just force his way through.

I like that roster prediction.
A lot of people have Bullard being cut but I can't see that myself. He is not the player many of imagined he would be when we drafted them. But he is a solid DE that will keep our linebackers clean in the run game. When you have Smith and Trevathan back there this is what you need from your depth. Nick Williams maybe more dynamic but doesn't seem reliable against the run.
I'm also not sold on Sowell. Given that we basically don't have a swing tackle this year I wish he hadn't tried the move to tight end.
I've also seen a lot of people have Hall on the roster. I can't see that one either. I think they go with 6 WRs and use the extra spot for an extra defender like DHC or Vaughters.

Bullard seems to be on the bubble to me, could go either way. I included him on the 53 because he's good against the run and cheap for one more year. He's basically a (younger) vet depth player on a prove-it deal.
Sowell may make the team for political reasons as stated above but I don't see why that should be. Every defense is gonna know he's no threat to run a route or be a target so every snap he's in cues it as a running play. Does his blocking ability justify keeping him above a much younger Bunting? Not in my mind.
I think Marvin Hall's chance of sticking is nil. He's fast but hasn't shown much as a returner and ST was supposedly his strength.

I think Whyte has shown more in the return game than just about anyone else so far. Even though it was called back, that return of his for a TD was really a thing of beauty.

Sowell isn’t getting cut. Cut the guy some slack in a role shift. I think he’s going to be a big part of what we do around the goal line to go along with value on every running and designed short pass play as a blocker.
