These are the guys I'd like to see back.
Re-signing those RFAs and exclusive rights FAs is a no brainer. All those players have shown something and are worth a place on the 90 man roster. Worst case is that they regress and don't make the 53.
We are in a win-win position with Callahan, Amos, Lynch and maybe even Bellamy. I hope Pace offers them a fair deal as it would be good to have them back - but if they sign else where for more money then at least we should get a compensatory pick. Its feasible than Callahan and Amos could get a decent contract - in which case the pick could be as high as a third.

The bigger question is, how many FAs can afford?

If it's between Amos or Callahan I'll take Callahan. Very good nickel corners are tough to find.

I agree on Callahan. The others I won't cry too many tears. Sure, resign if the price is right, but I think I would rather try to create enough cap space to get a better safety than Amos or else another corner.

That is true but what about his availability to play games? That was one of our biggest problems with signing Long to a long term contract. Availability is the best ability. Amos is healthy the majority of the time and is at a much cheaper position allowing us to sign even more FA if needed.

Using the "availability is the best ability" theory...what is the "availability" of good nickel cornerbacks on the market? Meaning, if we pass on Callahan, what is the likelihood of us signing someone as good or better? Now do that same exercise for Amos.

I'm not disagreeing with you that it would be much harder to find someone of Callahan skill set compared to Amos. I just don't want us throwing away big money for someone who can't stay healthy. Similar to Kyle Long.
