Cuter force feed him the ball while our backups spread out the ball. Cutler seem to have an issue throwing it to his other wrs. When Brandon Marshall was here we all criticize him for locking onto Marshall yet we don't do the same with Jeffery? The last 2 years Jeffery TD sucked. Can't just blame it on Hoyer and the backups on that. 6 TDs in the last 2 years combine is a joke for a #1 WR.
If it was 14.5 for a player that can at least stay healthy without any PEDs maybe I be more open to the idea. If he's a leading WR or top 5 things would be different. The fact is that is just a fantasy. Unless players like Odell, Julio Jones, and AJ Green all got hurt the same year that is highly unlikely to happen.
This is how I see things. Do we set the franchise back 14.5 million for a WR, that at times looks like a number 1 and at other times is very inconsistent and makes you wonder why he is our #1 WR? Do we take a gamble on his injury history and his bad work ethic that hasn't payed off yet? A guy who refuses to work with the team during the offseason while also having the same problems year in and out?
Another question I have, is he worth more than Julio Jones, Demaryius Thomas, and Dez Bryant?
In my opinion no. He had 2 years to prove if he can handle being a #1 WR.
Jeffery is worth what he's worth because thats what the market will bear out. Thats kind of how this whole free market thing works. Supply and demand. There is only 1 receiver like AJ on the free agent market this off season, which means he's going to get paid really well. The Bears have nobody to blame but themselves for this as they kicked the can down the road on resigning him. Had they had some FORESIGHT they would have approached him earlier about signing long term and saved themselves some money.
