I read this morning that Jeffery may be looking for a contract in the area of 5 years for 72.5 million and 40 million guaranteed. That would be 14.5 million a year.
That's too much for AJ. Dude wasn't even worth the FT we gave him this year after his poor performance and his PEDs.

I have yet to see anyone prove that he had poor performance. I keep hearing it from several people but no once can show proof. All they do is show his total yards at the end of the season. That doesn't mean his performance was poor. Throw him the damn ball and let him do what he does best.

I like to know why he's worth 14.5 million a year. What has he shown us the past 2 years as being our #1 WR?
1st year he couldn't stay healthy while his 2nd year he took PEDs to hide the fact that he can't stay healthy. ( This is counting both years he was #1 WR for our team )
How about AJ gets open so we can throw him the ball or are we forgetting the last game he only got 10 yards or can't get more than 6 TDs the past 2 years...

I don't think you know what you're talking about. So you think he didn't get many catches because he couldn't get open? Cutler never seemed to have an issue getting him the ball. Why was it his receptions only dropped once the back ups were in? His average per catch was still high. His TDs suck because he was not targeted in the red zone, hell the team didn't score many TDs in general.
I know 14.5 is a lot of money and would be higher than what his production has been but that's what it takes to get any good player. That's what the market is right now and in 3 or 4 years his contract is going to look perfectly fine.
Lets say the Bears do sign him to a 5 year deal for 14.5 a year. What if 3 years from now he's the leading WR in the NFL or even just in the top 5? In three years it's most likely his 14.5 contract will no longer even be in the top 10 anymore. Would you still piss and moan then? I have a feeling you'd forget that first year of his contract pretty quick and who's to say he wouldn't put up that production this coming year?

Cuter force feed him the ball while our backups spread out the ball. Cutler seem to have an issue throwing it to his other wrs. When Brandon Marshall was here we all criticize him for locking onto Marshall yet we don't do the same with Jeffery? The last 2 years Jeffery TD sucked. Can't just blame it on Hoyer and the backups on that. 6 TDs in the last 2 years combine is a joke for a #1 WR.
If it was 14.5 for a player that can at least stay healthy without any PEDs maybe I be more open to the idea. If he's a leading WR or top 5 things would be different. The fact is that is just a fantasy. Unless players like Odell, Julio Jones, and AJ Green all got hurt the same year that is highly unlikely to happen.
This is how I see things. Do we set the franchise back 14.5 million for a WR, that at times looks like a number 1 and at other times is very inconsistent and makes you wonder why he is our #1 WR? Do we take a gamble on his injury history and his bad work ethic that hasn't payed off yet? A guy who refuses to work with the team during the offseason while also having the same problems year in and out?
Another question I have, is he worth more than Julio Jones, Demaryius Thomas, and Dez Bryant?
In my opinion no. He had 2 years to prove if he can handle being a #1 WR.
Do you seriously think Jeffery's lack of TDs is his fault? Have you actually looked at the TD production from the rest of the team? Here are the stellar receiving TDs numbers: Meredith 4, Miller 4, Jeffery 2, Royal 2, Thompson 2 and then 5 guys with 1 TD each. That's horrific, but hey, lets blame it on Jeffery not being good. If you are going to blame Jeffery's lack of TDs on him then you need to be hard on every WR.
Does that lack of a good offense the last couple years have anything to do with Jeffery's lower stats as well? I'm assuming you would say that Hopkins isn't good either since he just had a bad year in Houston. I'm sure it had nothing to do with a bad offense and QB for him either.

Let's blame Jeffery when in the last 2 years he has a total of 6 TDs. This is including the year we had Gase and Cutler having a career best. So to say our offense was horrible is misleading.
Wasn't the topic about Jeffery though? I believe most here know my stand on all the WRs we have here.
Examples being Royal needs to be let go for his poor performance. Meredith was our best WR this year and etc...
Hopkins still had a better year than Jeffery but he only had one bad year. He can still stay healthy and hasn't cheated yet unlike Jeffery, who had multiple bad years with either injury problems or cheated to try to make his play better. I don't know how you can compare the two? Both are night and day different.
If Jeffery could stay healthy and didn't use PED this year maybe I be different towards him but the fact is he did.
What we see in Jeffery is what he can produce. There is no higher ceiling with him.

This just isn't logical thinking. When did those players sign their deals? You don't think they would sign for much more than 14.5 mill per year avg if they were free agents this year? Further, the 3 players you mentioned all have 60 plus percent of their deals guaranteed. You all get so caught up in the avg per year and the length when NONE OF THAT ACTUALLY MATTERS. All that matters in the NFL is what is guaranteed to you.
Jeffery is worth what he's worth because thats what the market will bear out. Thats kind of how this whole free market thing works. Supply and demand. There is only 1 receiver like AJ on the free agent market this off season, which means he's going to get paid really well. The Bears have nobody to blame but themselves for this as they kicked the can down the road on resigning him. Had they had some FORESIGHT they would have approached him earlier about signing long term and saved themselves some money.

Do you ever look anything up or do you just say stuff? Last year the leader for receiving TDs was Miller with 5 and then Jeffery with 4. So that means the leader in receiving TDs the last two years is Miller and Jeffery. So you still think this is Jeffery's problem and not a team problem? You think me saying the offense has been horrible is misleading? Here is where they finished the last three years in scoring; 28, 23 and 23. Here is where they finished in yards; 15, 21, and 21. Seriously, look up the facts before claiming you know.
