I wouldn't be totally against a trade for Jimmy G depending on what it costs. When you think of the unknown factor, he has a bit of it, but not as much as a rookie being drafted. If we were to make this trade, as Ric said, we then have to trade back from 3 to get those picks back in some form. If we can do that to me than it becomes a wash. If Pace feels strongly about him I trust Pace.
That is the biggest question imo. If Brady can play at a high level for 2-3 more years I can understand why they might use JG as trade bait. That gives them time to develop Brissett.
But why would they want to trade him? He is only one year older than Brissett and has a bigger curve of experience at the NFL level over Brissett. That leads me to believe that they do not value JG as the best Qb replacement for Brady since they are willing to watch him leave over a rookie backup.
Of course I am waiting to hear back from Matt Cassel before I make my judgement....

Well...JG is going to be a free agent after next season...so why shouldn't they get something for him while they can since he won't be their starter anytime soon. If they want to keep him after next season they are going to have to match or go above whatever offers he gets to keep him. I just don't see them sinking all that money into the QB position.

You could always FT Jimmy G if you really think he is Brady's replacement after next year.

As Long as no 1st is involved, we'd be good.
NE wants to Keep him, that's why they put a high Price tag on him. No Team will give a 1st for him. We could offer our 2nd + 2nd/3rd next year. That'd be fair value.

That's not true. There is a report saying the Browns are willing to give their 2nd 1st round pick for him.
If Garoppolo was any good BB wouldn't be letting him go without robbing the other team.
When your team has a 39 year old QB things are much different.
I really don't understand why some want Jimmy here. Dude is an unproven QB who had 2 games as a starter.
Give me Watson or Trubisky over Garoppolo.
Idd it is really mind blowing how many people wants to trade our 2rd round pick + some other mid to low rounds pick for Jimmy. Gimme Watson or kizer any day or Jimmy. Not to mention Jimmy has only one year left on his contract.
Hello Matt Cassel, Hello Matt Flynn.
btw how awesome did Barkley look in this first two games? If we were as successful as NE and already had our franchise QB, people would probably talk about trading for Barkley, because he looked good. But the following games he shat the bed.

Thats a 20 plus million dollar cap hit. I don't see that happening....do you? Tom Brady has a 22 million dollar cap number in 2019, now add in the probable 24 million dollar cap hit for franchising Jimmy and that 40 plus mill wrapped up in 1 position...almost a 1/4 of your cap.

To be fair...both Cassel and Flynn were 7th round picks. Jimmy comes with a bit more pedigree than those two.
