To be fair, it's really not a number for me anyway. It is about how the team is led, how the players play for him (I think he is good there), how he is able to do against other good coaches (not entirely certain yet, but so far I think a weak point), how many wins he can get given the talent he has (for me, a weak point). how the team is trending (another place where he can't hang his head, IMO).
In general, it is a feeling I get as to whether the person is taking the team in the right direction, is able to lead all the way to the big prize and when stacked up against top coaches in the league is someone that you can be proud of (with todays accomplishments and not yesterdays because so far those have been the only things anyone has been able to defend him with).
If he had three wins his first year, I would not have had the problem with him I do now. But he has gone backwards and to me seems like he has no clear direction on how to fix it other than to get healthy.
So I'm not going to count only wins.... there is a lot that goes into whether a guy "is it" or not. That is just my opinion and I like your polls.... Not only are they thought provoking, but they usually even have the appropriate number of responses.
I've got my sights set on 8-8 or better this season. I don't pull the trigger at the firing range, but someone'd have to do one hell of a sales job on me to keep Fox around if he finishes with fewer than 8 wins.
BTW, I hope most know what I am talking about when I say it is not the number of wins. Lovie had 10 when he was let go and I was behind the move. He was just not moving us in the right direction and you could sense he had no real idea how to fix things. So, even the three wins we had this year would have been fine if I felt that it was appropriate for the situation and we were trending up. Some feel that three wins was appropriate for our situation and they are happy with Fox (and I can't fault that -- if you think it is the right number given our circumstances, then you SHOULD be happy with him).
So... in the immortal words of..... oh hell.... someone... "It's complicated"

I agree with both of your posts... I'm thinking it will be clear to most once we see games being played next season.
