yes, but I don't think he's worth the 2nd Overall if they could go down to the Jets pick and still have a Chance to get a Fournette, WR, Barnett or Saftey while picking up a 2nd rounder or more. Jets would do it to secure to get the QB they want. Both Teams would benefit for sure and Bears would be again that Team that has the next pick instead of the guy that everybody and their mother would want.
Here's a thought, if the Browns go Garrett, the 49ers theoretically have their quarterback, this is a defensive heavy draft (people need to get this right, this isn't a bad draft. It's strong for WRs, CBs, and many D positions) and the Jags and Titans both aren't likely to draft a QB. I don't see why the Jets would want to waste picks to trade up to the 9ers to grab a QB before the Bears (who aren't likely/guaranteed to draft a QB) in this weak class of QBs.
Remember last season when there we only 10 good players in the draft and the Bears needed to trade down? Now this year there are only 2 good players in the draft and the Bear need to trade down. How times change.
Well to be fair, the last time they drafted this high was one of the worst drafts at the top in the history of the NFL; the Benson draft. Bust after Bust in the top 5...shit almost the entire top 10 was tragic. Look outside the top 10 though....Ware, Merriman, Derrick Johnson, Aaron Rogers, Roddy White. Sometimes the back have of the 1st round is better. Just goes to show you the professional scouts and GM's and coaches can be bad and get it wrong sometimes to.
Bears might have lucked into being garbage when the draft was garbage again.
But if there were 5 draft picks that ended up being better than the rest doesn't that mean scouting departments failed? Its all hindsight I agree. Personally I don't give much weight to draft position or draft value--none of that stuff ends up meaning anything in the end. Ware, Merriman, Johnson, Rogers and White deserved to be the top 5 picks in that draft. Not one single person here would be complaining now if the Bears had drafted those guys. For sure there would have been posters ranting about not getting the best value or reaching, but once the draft ends those phrases are meaningless.
So with the number 3 picks Pace needs to not worry about value or draft position IMO. Sure if he can trade down to pick up picks that by all means go for it. But if he believes that a certain player is the best player AND fills a position of need--pick him.
I felt during the last draft like Pace was playing the draft value and draft position game in that 4th round and I'm not sure he got the players he was looking for OR the best players in the round. We'll have to wait a few years to find out, but I can't wondering what would have been the result if he had just stayed put and picked the guys he was looking for. Looking quickly at the AV values on profootballreference, I don't see tons of talent from the 4th round and laters (Dak, Hill in KC both stand out). So in the end maybe Pace was playing hunches or maybe he wasted time trying to be the smartest guy in the room. \ Anyway--time to teach pre-algebra to kids that don't want to be there--

What if the Bears take a QB and that's the only QB the Jets would want to start next year?

Well, hopefully with all the smoke and mirrors, nobody will know who the Bears intend to draft. With the defensive talent on the board and needs all along the roster for the Jets, they might not find it prudent to waste draft picks with the amount of holes on their roster. I'm not saying they won't do it, but it'd be foolish. All the QBs have "issues" and you don't go into a draft with only one player in mind.
Also, sounds like the the whole Rivers trade thing isn't likely. But it sounds like Shanahan to the 49ers is real. If Cousins hits the market, he could follow Kyle there.

Cousins didn't really play much under Shanny in Washington so I don't think that might happen...but you never know. If San Fran snags a QB in free agency...I'm actually thinking they may go receiver if they don't go defense. They have literally nobody for a QB to throw the ball to.
Many sports writers for whatever reason believe Pace will not only most likely draft a QB but will go after a veteran. If he has his mindset I wonder what he chances are he tries to obtain Rivers? Would you all be for this move? I can say with Howard running the ball well it sounds like a perfect compliment with Rivers chucking it deep to AJ.

I don't know. Rivers is better but how much is he going to offer the Bears at 35 years old? Not only would you have to trade to get him but he's averaging $20 million a year. Is he really going to take the Bears to the next level?

How about we trade Cutty to Chargers for Rivers, then flip Rivers to 49ers for a swap of 1st round picks and maybe a 6th? Everyone gets what they want?

I don't buy it. Why would he want to go from one dysfunctional franchise with a cheap-ass owner to another horribly dysfunctional franchise. On top of that he would be facing the Rams, Cards and Seahawks defenses 6 games a season. His receiving corp on IR in San Diego was better than anything SF had. Has he had a lifelong dream of playing with Carlos Hyde?
