Bradford has a lower career Passer Rating than Cutler and someone coughed up a 1st for him. Cutler is older which will reduce his value but he has a few good years left in him. He has value.
Also the idea that teams will wait for him to get cut if the Bears draft a QB is not likely. Teams can't just wait for him to be cut as other teams who are interested can always undercut them before the Bears would release him. If we want to trade him there will be a market. Last year he wasn't traded because we had no one else in place which likely raised the Bears' asking price too high to get a trade deal. If the Bears get a QB they are comfortable with they can let Cutler go for a lower price.

I agree with this. There should be play for him at his current pay. Then again.... who knows... I think Pace will do 4 6ths for him
Dear God no! That sounds like a terrible idea. There's going to be a great player where the Bear's pick no matter what and the Bears need more picks, not fewer.
There absolutely will be a great player at #3. Just wondering though if Pace thinks his guy is gone what the price would be. IMO, this high pick is to get a franchise QB. Whether or not we get that accomplished, no one can say, but that should be our goal. If we think that guy is going to be taken one pick ahead of us, I think it is reasonable to try and make that trade. We don;t want to be picking this high next year. IMO, you have to make your goal this year. If we get a franchise QB this year the whole draft will be worth it. I know we need more instead of less picks, but we HAVE to get the QB straightened out. Everything else is secondary IMO. There are other ways to get other skill players, but no one lets go of a franchise QB. The draft is the only way.
If you are the GM and you decide to trade up to grab a player you put so much more pressure on yourself. There's enough pressure already trying to pick the right guy with the third pick but if you use more picks to get a guy then that's just unnecessary pressure added to you. If that pick doesn't work you'll be picking high in the draft for a couple more years most likely.

yeah. I can't argue that, but I think you have to go for the kill shot to get this QB situation fixed. Do your damned best to determine who the guy is and then get him. At #3, you are so close to getting your guy, I think you have to go for it. And who knows.... #3 is high enough that our guy may be there for us anyway. Just saying.... If he is still there at 2 and Pace thinks he is gone, does he do it?

The thing is that we don't know exactly what the off season QB market is going to look like. What if Romo retires after this season? Note: if the 'girls win the super bowl this is much more likely. The point is, until the post-season ends, we wont know what the market will look like, and we wont be as able to determine the most likely value.
Magic Eight Ball says "Ask again later".
Also, Chicago may be the team with the best fit for Cutty in terms of business standpoint...
Shoot, why guess draft picks? Why talk about the schedule? Why [insert anything Bears related] ever?
Sorry for the sarcasm, but I hate this. It's the offseason, predicting and projecting things is what we do.
That's good point about Romo. I wouldn't say it's a for sure thing, win or lose. It's not easy for players to walk away from the game.
Even if Romo is gone, what is so inspiring about Cutler? ESPN analyst may say, "Some GM will be enamored with this or that about Cutler." He's 34 now, he's not 26 or 28. He doesn't have "potential" anymore. He is what he is. A .500 QB that played 5 games last season and has only completed... one full season(?) in his career. He has a known ego. Doesn't get along with OCs. Turnover prone.
I'm not sure how he is that much better than what's available. He isn't a QB I'd want to bring in fresh to be a my bridge QB. He probably has the most value to Chicago with his relationship with Loggains. I just wonder if management is sick of him, or Fox doesn't want him around.

LOL. The point I was trying to make is that I would be more comfortable making a prediction once a few more possibilities have shaken themselves out. Also known as "later".
Personally, given the contract with no dead cap if cut, there may be a possibility that a team looking for a 1 year "rental" might be interested. Remember, if a team has nobody at QB, then even a guy is only good against the bad and average teams may still be an upgrade.
It really comes down to things like who is available, does any team think he is the best option, is the cap space available, and so forth.
Right now, as of today, I'm of the opinion that his highest value in terms of both contract and talent is to Chicago.
After the season ends, Pace may make a trade that changes that, or Pace may draft a QB (or not) which may or may not change these things. Or Pace may receive an offer for Jays' contract that exceeds his value to the team. Who knows? Not me. Probably not The Shadow either.
Cutler has an NFL arm for sure and every team knows that. He has not been a public cancer, he works hard, etc. He is not a pariah like Jeff George became. If cheap enough, there is going to be a coach that thinks the positives are too good to pass up and that he can fix him. Not saying it will happen, but it is not out of the question IMO. Last year he was just too expensive. This year he really is not.
1. Drew Stanton, Cardinals, 4M (2017 cap, unless noted) 2. AJ McCarron, Bengals, 7.35K 3. Josh McCown, Browns, 5M 4. Geno Smith, Jets, 1.6M ('16, FA) 5. Colt McCoy, Redskins, 3.6M 6. Colin Kaepernick, 49ers, 19.4M {Blaine Gabbert - 2.3M '16, FA} 7. Brian Hoyer, Bears, 2M ('16, FA) 8. Luke McCown, Saints, 1.75M 9. Derek Anderson, Panthers, 2.25M 10. Mike Glennon, Bucs, 1.83M ('16, FA) 11. Shaun Hill, Vikings, 3.25M ('16, FA) 12. EJ Manuel, Bills, 2.83M ('16, FA) 13. Mark Sanchez, Cowboys, 2M ('16, FA) 14. Chase Daniel, Eagles, 8M 15. Nick Foles, Chiefs, 10.75M {jumping up from 1.75M, might be a guy in line for a pay cut or to be cut}
I am just noting this here to show Cutler would be an expensive backup if a team traded that route. I've already looked over the teams and don't see a for sure starting job/landing spot for him. Obviously the offseason is long, but the contract is only favorable if you want him as a starter.
