Did Bum mention what you do with bad players? Because we had a lot of those playing for us this season. I guess guys like Donatell, Hurt, Johnson and Fangio just forgot how to coach eh?
No. I'm hoping he tells us all when he tells us what to do with bad coaches.
Yeah...I guess we just have a bunch of guys who just forgot how to coach football. Must be my eyes, I'm gonna have to go back and look at all the all pro's who are on this roster....all the first round picks who played for us this season...clearly you're all right....coaching is the issue here.

It is. Just not the only issue and not to the extent it was previously. I think the biggest coaching issue lies with Foxy and he really does not do much of the actual coaching. Loggains, I am on the fence about so I don't think he is horrible either. So yes, I think coaching is part of the problem. Is it a big problem? that is in the eyes of the beholder.

Nerf footballs . We started playing pickup games in my own neighborhood when we were all about 8 - so we already knew how to play fb before we started playing flag fb in grade school - then it was Pop Warner , then on to hs .
And here's the thing about "coaching" - basically they explain where you go / what you do with each play and it gets more in-depth the older you get ... but it's NOT complicated . Sure it takes alot of practice and alot of work in the weight room , but it's not that complicated . And how good you are mostly depends on how much God given ability you have and how adept you are at understanding your job . All coaches know what they're doing and how to teach it to you ... what they can't control is how athletic ( and intelligent ) the players they get , are .
So all this talk about how well Fox & Co. can coach is a bunch of horse manure - it's about what they 'have' to work with .

So going back to Trestman should not make a big difference then.

I'm going to have to disagree somewhat with you here Blue. All these guys won the genetic lottery...some hit the Power Ball, some hit the Mega Millions, and some just hit the pick 6, but they all are genetically wealthy. What I would say is that by the end of the season we had a lot of guys playing for us who just won the pick 6...or the pick 3 in some cases. Coaching matters, a good coach can teach a Power Ball and a pick 3 guy to buy certain things, but at the end of the day, the Power Ball guy is always going to be able to buy more shit than the guy who won the pick 3. The guy with the greater genetic gifts is always going to be able to do more than the guy who has less. Does my lottery analogy make sense? I happen to think we have good coaches, and not so good players. I think these coaches have proven they can take good talent and make it better (ala Donatell in San Fran). I believe we have coaches that can scheme to players strengths (ala Fangio in San Fran and Fox in NY, Carolina, and Denver...I'd list Loggains but I ain't friggen sure on him yet). Now we need some more guys who hit the Mega Millions and Power Ball on this team and we need those guys not to go bankrupt(get injured).

There's a night & day difference between commanding the locker room , and not . If ur players think ur a joke they ain't gonna play hard 'for' you cuz what they really want is to see that guy bounced . Fox still 'has' his locker room .
But 'technically' ur right - Trestman does know how to 'coach' fb , he knows alot about certain offenses etc - but knowing it and being able to execute it in ways that make you win can be trixy .

I believe quite a few think so both here and elsewhere. Just because you don't doesn't make it so does it? You have an opinion and some of us have a different one. The only difference is we have a 6-10 season and a more recent 3-13 season to back us up.

So then between 2006 and now this team has been so devoid of talent we couldn't possibly compete no matter who coached and all of our HCs who went elsewhere went to Super Bowls with all of that talent we never had here. Is that right?

DEVOID of talent ? No . We all know Lach + Peanut + Briggsy and a few others were pretty good . We just didn't have enough OVERALL talent , and we had some mistake prone people in important positions also . So basically you have to be pretty good and pretty solid everywhere , no coaching staff is good enough to make you overcome that .
