Interesting tweet, prompted by Godwin going down last night, along with BA in SF. Is it time to cut VJJ loose* or get what you can to protect Johnson?
I'm thinking if Allen goes down (picking the most likely candidate) the room would become (1) Moore (2) Rome (3) Scott (4) Johnson (5) Carter**
Which looks a whole lot better than: (1) Moore (2) Rome (3) Scott (4) Carter (5) VJJ
------ * I don't know why they are hanging on to VJJ at this point anyway. He's not active and they would be doing him a favor by cutting him loose to find another position. I'm willing to bet he wouldn't be out of work for more than 1 week. Someone would take a chance on him.
** Carter is PR/KR. I don't want to see him out there running routes with anything more than #4 on the reads. There are 4 receiving options better than him on any given play (Moore, Allen, Rome, Kmet.)
I don't think there is any real value for VJJ, just like Davis. Both showed they have no value on the field which is why both are inactive. If they could offer a package deal and get a slightly higher pick out of it though, more power to them. Just not sure who they offer.
I wouldn't trade Allen, first and foremost, if a team is needing a WR b/c their wr's got injured the interest in Allen for those teams will be low. second it appears there is a comfort level growing between him and Williams. Allens body control and understanding of where to be, and look for the ball is the best on the team right now; his tape/experience will help the entire WR room.
I don't honestly know what the market is for Allen. Yes teams need WRs, teams always need WRs. Are you getting a 4th back? Don't know, honestly don't know. We are not privy to calls Poles is getting so its all MSU up at this point.
Bears are buyers at this point, not sellers. Problem is, teams needing/wanting Allen are also buyers and despite our claims teams like 9ers/Bucs/KC aren't going to send us a starting G or even their backup G for Allen. The Browns aren't going to want to swap Allen for Garrett, why would they?
Honestly, don't think there is a market for Allen.

Which is why, beside thinking there isn't a market for him, I don't want to trade Allen either. He's working the middle and if the tweet about Williams being a top QB in attacking the middle is true, than they want Allen. With Moore and Rome rampaging down the sidelines, Kmet running seams and flat routes, Allen owns the middle.
Even if its for one season, it was a great trade. Claiming otherwise is just complaining to complain.
"Because some team may come for Collin Johnson on PS soon to backfill the bottom of their active roster WR room. He looked good in preseason. "
If they can get anything decent for VJ I'd do that in a heartbeat and elevate Collin Johnson. He did look good this TC & PS with Caleb. I could see Johnson helping this season if we have injuries at WR. But VJ? Not so much.
Actually, thinking about our remaining schedule, I'm back to keeping all the useful offensive weapons we can. So, keep Allen, ship VJJ out of town, even if we have to pay shipping and handling.

No one is going to want to pay anything for VJJ. He's been inactive, its obvious the Bears don't want him active, even when Aleen was out. He literally has no trade value neither is there a market for him. The only way the Bears are moving him is to release him. Maybe, go to the team that was rumored to want to trade for him and say "We're going to release him, we'll trade him for a 7th." And that only works is the team who wanted him isn't low on the waiver claim list.

VJJ and Davis have little trade value. Its obvious Flus hates Davis at this point. It's also obvious the team is done with both these guys. Neither of them will play a snap the rest of the years unless there's a rash of injuries.
Maybe you could get a 6th for a 7th with trading each of them. Is that worth it? For Velus, I'd take anything cuz we have depth there. For Davis, if you're happy depth-wise with Bates and Borom getting close, then sure dump him.
Keenan Allen should be kept IMO. He won't be re-signed so he is just a rental for this season to help Caleb get off the ground and take the heat off Rome to produce right away.
