The bye week seems to be at the perfect point in the season this year. Normally, I'd like to see it come later in the season. But with a rookie QB and a new OC, offense - and some key new players on offense - this is a priceless opportunity for the coaches and players to assess what's working and what's not... and make adjustments before going into the tougher part of the schedule, and the NFCN games. Perfect timing here. And hopefully it gives our players some extra time to get healthy. Right now I'd bet that most everyone is dealing with nagging injuries... and of course some are dealing with more serious injuries.
As far as what I'm going to do during the bye week, I'm getting ready to build a computer (my laptop is dying a slow and painful death and needs replaced). Last night I finished ordering the parts I'll need. Sane people buy their computers, but I've built ours for many years (probably around 30+ years now). I'm picky about my computers. I want them tailored to exactly what I want, and without the garbage you get with a store bought computer. LOL, this will be my first attempt to build a laptop though... actually it will (hopefully) be a hybrid laptop/desktop... I've never seen one like this, so it will be interesting to see if this idea I had, can actually work in real life. We will soon see Mrs JABF is pretty patient with me and my crazy hobbies. She just asked me how much the parts would cost this time - and she was okay with it all.

Anyway, that's my bye week blues antidote.
I just built a couple myself and am going back in the next few days to put in some M.2 SSD in place of the hard drives that it has. I brought them over from my last computer but am going full SSD now. And I agree. You can get exactly what you want from the case down to the power supply. I did recently by my wife an HP all in one when they had a really good deal. I don't know if you can build all in ones. The chassis are not really available.

Maybe do something good for the rubber chicken that got us to 4-2 so far. Drive him and his buddies to Port Aransas or Padre Island beach (or at least Galveston) to catch some rays. Frankly we need that guy rested up and in top form for when we face off with the NFCN teams later in the season.
EDIT: Out of curiosity is it a guy or a gal - and what's its name?

My first thought was it is a girl, because, you know, CHICKen. But then I thought maybe it was a guy because, chicKEN. And then I thought we don't know even know where it came from, maybe it's a country cHICKen? Or maybe it crawled out of a slime pit and is chICKen. But then I realized they have value - I know an acupuncturist who uses them because of CHIcken.
But I'm just a dumb cluck, so we'll need BiH to weigh in on it's status.

Shoot… I never gave it much thought. I’ll grope it for you when I get home and let you know

Working a conference as a musician here in Peru and grilling by the ocean at night. Don't get too excited, it's winter on the west coast of Peru, south of Lima. No sun, a cold wind and it's about 65-70 all day long.

Still.......life is good.
Bears are 4-2.
if it was 0 degrees and the Bears were 4-2 life would be good too!
although, if it was 20 below, the Bears better be 10-2 or better for life to be good! I gotta draw a line somewhere.
Hmmm, I've had windchills at 60 below. Bears better be at least 14-0 at those temperatures.

Whatever it is, it's startin to freak me out lol. Pretty sure Son of Svengoolie has a copy right with rubber chickens. Anyway, bye-weeks go pretty quick and at least you don't have to worry bout losing. Personally, i'll watch other teams especially if my team has an upcoming game with them. Had a chance to watch the Cardinals and now i'm not concerned with them. Weird that they can't beat anyone outside their division. Even weirder that they beat the 49ers then SF had one of their best games this year against Seattle following that loss. The worst case scenario is when your team drops a game after the bye. Because you waited 2 weeks for THAT?!?! lol

Doesn't it just feel good to have a team we can be excited about?
For the first time in years, THEY'RE FUN TO WATCH!
There are so many storylines too. Caleb. The defense. Dexter's emergence. We all cheer the punter! Our WRs are amazing.
It's so nice to have a team now where I can be like these guys have a legit chance at winning the whole thing. Maybe not this year, but you can see this group of guys with a couple tweaks on the OL getting to the Super Bowl.
