Dave Magazu is one amazing OL coach. Hope he stays.

I'll just toss in my bullet points;

1) Magazu and Fox have been joined at the hip since Carolina so if Fox is fired the chance of Magazu staying on are diminished unless Fox retires from coaching.  Stay tuned. In another week or so we'll have some answers but if there are no changes at the very top announced I'm not expecting a coaching change either.

2) Those analysts who are saying we need two OTs aren't basing it on any kind of realistic knowledge of just how difficult it would be to do that considering this draft as no highly ranked OTs at the moment and few teams will allow even half way decent healthy OTs become FAs.  We do need to spend some draft capital on an OT but I don't expect to get a starter.  Only a kid who can play some swing OT to begin with who we can develop into a starter.  Besides we do as well with drafting 1st round OTs as we do 1st round QBs. LOL

3) While Whitehair may get the OL award for biggest surprise Massie is making a case for the most improved player award.  He's completely turned his game around so I applaud that.  It's just too bad he couldn't do it before we got two QBs injured and landed on the IR.  It's a good thing he can't be charged with QB manslaughter.  At least for the moment he's become a serviceable RT in the same fashion as Leno is a serviceable LT.  We just need to keep drafting and/or looking for potential upgrades to sign.

4) And Ric you're still full of shit about Cutler holding the ball too long.  You and I have been down this path and I've countered that with reality.  Even BB put a time clock on it earlier in the year to prove then that he wasn't even getting 2 secs to set up and throw on many passing downs.  If he had the time Barkley even has now it would be a much different story because it has been in the past. 

Cutler is not a 3 step and out passer and he never has been so stop imagining that he should be or needs to be.  With even halfway decent blocking from his OTs if the OGs and OC will keep his front porch clear so he can step up and throw he's always done well.  The real problem comes from that as much as when his OTs play ole' with an edge rusher.  Earlier this year none of them were pass blocking well or picking up blitzes he got no time to throw and had nowhere to go.  You can't honestly say he's ever had good pass protection on a consistent basis so why keep blaming him.  You're the only one I've ever seen do that as often as you do and it's not accurate.

5) Cohesiveness and coordination are just as important as talent on an OL.  With Long back and some added depth from guys like Grasu, Kush, and an OT or two they have the makings of a very good OL.  A rookie RB doesn't avg. 5.1 ypc without some blocking so if anything we may have turned some kind of corner relative to our run blocking which was also not good early in the year.  How much of this is Magazu vs finally getting a couple of Pro Bowl level performers at OC and LG I can't say but one thing for sure is the emergence of Cody Whitehair at OC hasn't hurt.  It's the best line management and coordination we've seen since Olin was in his prime.
