In most cover 4 schemes the safety is taught to take the #2 WR after 8 yards which the Rams do here with the slot CB passing off Moore. This vacates the MOF and leaves the boundry CB the difficult task of covering an in breaking route with otuside leverage. His only option was DPI
Caleb Williams steps up in the pocket, throws with anticipation, and likely would have had a TD if not for the pass interference. Caleb saw this the whole way. He didn't have to come off his first read because he knew his first read would be open.
It is good to see Caleb learning when to check down like that, instead of playing hero ball. It is just one of a number of ways he is maturing and developing as a passer. Brasil, I'm really encouraged by what we are seeing as he exhibits steady improvement. He seems to have calmed down since those first two games and looks comfortable - even with pressure in his face.
