I don't disagree. Yeah, Fields is on a better team than Caleb. On the right team I believe Caleb's ceiling is a lot higher than Fields. But he's on the Bears team.

Yes but Williams doesn't have a supporting OC, Oline coach, Oline play, but he has inconsistence WR play, lack luster RB, horrible personal decision on field. Moore been ok, Rome has been inconsistent at times. Too many drop passes for a top 10 pick in my opinion. Allen has been lack luster on the side line. Swift was a terrible signing. I rather have Monty back or draft his replacement. They don't like having Kmet on the field.

Steelers defense has given up 26 points in 3 games. You'd probably be 3-0 at that point. Widest margin of victory is 10 points in those 3 games. I'd say the Steelers offense is still a work in progress.

I still disagree, until JF can win games without a defense averaging 8.7 scoring points allowed per game. I see him as nothing more than a low tier QB with a ceiling of a game manager mid to late 20's out of 32 starting QBs. That's with a Hall of Fame HC helping disguise JF issues.

I will be expecting that from CW in the future as well. Usually Year 3 is when you should see huge signs of improvements. Josh Allen for example.

Tomlin still refuses to name Fields as starting QB. His actions should say something. I do hope they keep Fields as a starter so we get an extra 4th rounder pick instead of 6th.

In 3 games, I've seen more flashes of great QB play in Williams than my 3 years watching Fields play. Fields only flashes came from his running ability.

Lot of things happening on offense isn't even on Williams. Allen dropped a TD, Rome dropped a TD along with a ton of rookie mistakes, Swift has been a horrible FA signing, new OC is worse than our last one having players who shouldn't even be on the field on the field. O line coach needs to be fired.

I can respect that but what happens if you never get a top 5 overall pick for the next 10-15 years? Its much harder finding good QB play outside the first overall pick. We would have to give up multiple first round picks to get our guy like other teams have done including the Texans, Chiefs, Panthers, and etc. You also got to understand how hard it is to get into the top 5. We barely got the #1 overall pick the first time and that was thanks for Lovie doing a last minute win for the Bucs. If he would of lost. We would of not got DJ Moore and CW. Then how shit show the Panthers were last year to give us the #1 overall pick while we won a few meaningless games for the #9 overall pick. We honestly could of been a top 5 pick had we not won meaningless games. We could of had a guy like Alt on the line. I get you want to be the Lions which is one super team in the NFC with a ton of talent everywhere. What happens when you got to pay all that talent in 4 years? I prefer going the Texans route and get your QB first then build around him. Its much easier having a top 10 QB support your team for the next 10-15 years than having a Super team like the 49ers or Lions for 5 years.

I agree. He's not bad.

He's also not top-10.

And it is kind of a binary thing. There's two types of QBs:
A) the guys you pay huge money cuz they give you a shot at a deep run (i.e., the "top-10")
B) Everyone else

Justin Fields had lots of chances last season to prove it. He didn't do it.

I believe that the perpetual search for the Next Mahomes or a Top 5 or Top 10 QB is detrimental to the long term building of a team.

It puts other priorities on the back burner and also makes the team one dimensional.

Yes obviously the QB needs to be good. At the same time he doesn’t have to be Aaron Rodgers either.

Then while it is great to have a great QB. The day comes where a high level QB gets paid a record setting deal thus detonating the salary cap and making building a supporting cast impossible.

My preference is that when you find somebody that is good enough at QB you build around him and it’ll make him look better than he really is.

But the odds of finding the next Mahomes / Rodgers / Brady is virtually impossible. I’d rather build a team.
