In front of a camera, he is all you would want from a rookie QB1.
I think so too. He sure deserved better than to come to a team that is a QB killer. We need Poles to put an OL in front of this kid that will allow him to succeed here. They are calling 50+ pass plays for him because the Bears dead-bang KNOW they can't run the ball behind this OL. That's why we saw the gadget play on the goal line yesterday. Bears know they can't run the rock this year behind this line. Swift looks like a mere shadow of what he has been in this league before coming to the Bears and this OL.

We have not quite killed him yet, but it is a work in progress

Eberflus is a dead man walking. I hate the thought of going through another reset of the coaching staff. Especially due to the fact the Bears seem incapable of hiring a good HC. I tried to keep the hope that Eberflus could be a good HC. I just ran out of excuses for his work product.

The Flus decision was squarely on Poles. Period. My belief is he let the relationship color his decision.

In the end, it is all on Poles. These are his coaches. These are his players. This is his team (the good for sure, but also the bad). He deserves another HC hire. He has definitely done enough good... I like most of his decisions. But he needs to get an OL and yep a coaching staff that can do better than what we are seeing with Eberflus.

He's doing really well on the field to, given the situation. He's already doing things Fields struggled with, even last year, pre reading at the line, making adjustments, and calling audibles.
IF he can prevent being mentally/emotionally destroyed by this trash OL this year, AND he can start to hit a few of these downfield throws, looks like he started to yesterday. He's already ahead of the last 4 rookies the Bears have had. None seemed capable of doing what he's doing at the line right now in game 3. He has the football IQ, just needs the peices around him to succeed imo. I think the timing on those deep throws will come. He's getting hyper sped up w/the OL, so it's just a matter of him keeping his cool this year and hopefully next year Poles and Flus will actually realize the OL matters and use FA and the draft to build one that isn't full of cast off's and div2 jags

I agree that Caleb is making progress each week. He does seem to be a quick learner. The roster will undoubtedly get an upgrade next year - and we have been talking about his being a multi-year rebuild since the 2022 teardown. So 2025 has pretty much been the target year to complete the rebuild. It will be interesting to watch how the coaching staff does this year. There are things a team can do to mitigate a weak OL to some extent. With Pryor replacing Davis, we should see some improvement in the OL play. I expect that to happen to some extent. Hopefully the unit can be near average at some point. And will they help Caleb this year with scheme/play-calling that helps him? Will Waldron improve the run game? I have a hard time believing it won't get better. It will all be interesting to watch.
