Let's face it, we are down after another set of extremely hyped and unfilled promises (through 2 games) regarding the offense. But as history has shown we are yet again on the cusp of having another great "Monsters of the Midway" DEFENSE in consecutive years. Our run D is stout as evidenced by the below tweet and we have one of the best secondaries in the league as well. We live, breathe, & sleep offense in the NFL but never forget our decades long tradition of having great D year after year after year!

This is going to be one of those years where we constantly say to each other, "If the offense was just average we wouldn't lose a game."
The nice thing is that a Top 5 D keeps you competitive in every game. We should've lost to the Titans and, given the OL / Caleb performance against the Texans, we should've gotten blown out too.
Unfortunately this offense is going to keep us out of the playoffs and in the playoffs a Top 5 D will take you very far.
Lets see, Def was already pretty good when Poles took over, then continued to spend a lot of resources to solidify it; leaving the O to waffle. He then this past season to build up the QB and WR's/TE's, pretending any of that would matter; but again continued to ignore the OL.
what's amazing he put a ton of capital into the DL, but just lets the OL waste away as if it's not important.

That pretty much sums it up. The Bears are so close though... they lack an NFL-quality offensive line that will enable the offense (and Caleb) to play to their ceiling potential.

All they have to do is simplify the offense.
This is nowhere near a Lost Season or anything apocalyptic at all. We are 1-1 with the next half dozen games as definitely winnable.
On paper, this is the most talented offense since the days of Cutler-Marshall-Jeffrey-Bennett-Forte. We need to build Caleb’s confidence level up and find an OL structure that works. It can be done.

I tend to agree.
My mantra isn't: "defense wins championships". It's more like: "offense gets you into the playoffs and defense keeps you in".
It's tough to win 10 games on defense alone. It happens, but it's tough. Look at teams that make the playoffs every season. Vast majority have 3500+ yard passers. Expecting your defense, even if its really good, to hold every team to under 20 points is asking a lot.

I do believe the O can make adjustments and get better this season. That 2.46 yards per play on offense, surely isn't going to last all season. You'd almost have to WORK on sucking that bad for an entire season.

Well the Media and former players/coaches are calling it all out. So they know they are staring down the barrel of the proverbial gun. I believe we will see a different team out there this weekend.

I hope.
Yeah, while you don't want to panic, there is value letting Ryan Poles feel some heat over this offensive line failure. I hope there's enough heat on him by fans, former Bears players (they have been brutal), and the sports media (local and national after the national crapping the bed on SNF) that Poles remembers this on draft day 2025. Hold his feet to the fire right now, bigtime.
I have had it with the failure to fix the OL here in Chicago. If Poles can't get it done as GM, then get a GM here who can. Fix the OL and prosper.
