I share your frustration, JABF, but have a slightly different take. I see players UNDER-PERFORMING and put some onus on coaches for that.

Like I said, 4 of the 5 are returning starters. The 5th new starter is replacing a guy who sucked last yr (Patrick) and he's started many games in the NFL competently, including a Super Bowl. I'm not saying we have elite talent, we don't, but we also don't have 5 practice squad rookies out there either.

It shouldn't look THIS bad. Coaches bear some blame for that and they need to be kicking some ass to fix it. They knew about Nate Davis in TC for instance.

I agree it shouldn't look THIS bad. Totally agree with you. But it's that old thing where 2 things can be true at the same time. I do trust NFL players who have played the game, criticizing these players. They ALSO have been critical of Waldron. Both. Poles paid out $30 million dollars for Nate Davis and the team can't cut the guy this year without taking a significant cap hit. Poles did that. I expect the coaches have tried to get his head right - and failed. He will probably get benched. They can't trade a guy like that. He has no value.

Meanwhile an OC candidate the Bears interviewed TWICE (Klint Kubiak) is absolutely lighting it on fire in New Orleans. He's making Derek Carr look like a mini-Mahomes over there. They hung 41 on Dallas on the road in Dallas and are off to an impressive start.

It is a prove it year for this coaching staff. Maybe it all turns around and begins to look good. If not then I expect a new HC for next year. I'm not going to worry about it. But I just don't see Eberflus surviving if the team doesn't get turned around. Poles is safe, but he needs to pull up his GM big-boy pants and get the team on track in 2025 - if in fact the team does poorly this year.

I know we talk about the QB sync thing with HC's. But if a new HC can't win with Caleb Williams and these blue chip skill guys on offense... well, we shouldn't hire deadbeats like that. Fix the OL and prosper here with this offense.

It is a prove it year for this coaching staff. Maybe it all turns around and begins to look good. If not then I expect a new HC for next year. I'm not going to worry about it. What's Kubiak doing w/this OL? Nothing. Definitely not throwing up 30-40 pts a game.

I agree and understand. Just saying Bears had a shot at some elite coaching talent this offseason and they passed.

And please don't tell me those guys wouldn't want the job. Any OC or even HC would give their left nut to have a talent like Williams and the cast of weapons he has (with 3 more top-60 picks coming next April). That's a dream job for an offensive-minded coach.

The Bears organization JUST SUCKS AT OFFENSE. I don't know how else to describe it. They have sucked at it since the 1940s and that's not an exaggeration.

You could give these guys Marino, Rice, Payton, and Kelce and they would still eff it up somehow.

All I can think of is that if an HC candidate wants something better than Caleb Williams, DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, Cole Kmet, to build around - who will all be here next season - then that dude's no coach. Show him the door... maybe even boot his ass out that door. He's a nutcase.

Listening to Thayer on espn 1000 now. he called out Jenkins, stated if you are doing what the call says to do, if you are blocking your assignment, you need to do it better. He then followed it up w/multiple examples of them not doing their job well enough.
