There are a lot of these floating around. Some not as harsh as others. None have been complimentary, at least not any I have seen. I do agree with the D being the stud of the game. I mean we were literally in the game up until the end and it wasn't from anything happening on the offensive side of the ball.

They summed it up pretty well with this... "the offensive line can't run or pass block."
DUDS: The offensive line. Williams attempted 37 passes on Sunday night. He was pressured 36 times. (Williams also ran five times for 44 yards, the leading rusher for Chicago.) Giving up 36 pressures on 42 passing attempts is a special kind of suck. The pressures that turned into scrambles were the offense’s best rushing attempts. Sans Williams’ rushing attempts, the Bears ran the ball 17 times for 27 yards. The offensive line can’t run or pass block.

And CWill was getting the ball out on average in 2.59 seconds. The OL basically were giving up ground as soon as the ball was snapped; ALL OF THEM. The OT's not being AS BAD as the IOL isn't a flex for them.
I've been thinking - or at least pretending to - about our O-Line being called turnstiles. That's not true. Turnstiles only allow traffic through on one side. They stop all traffic on the other side.
Our "turnstiles" on the O-Line let everything through on both sides. I willnot refer to them as turnstiles anymore.

I know folks here have said you can't ruin a rookie QB1. But in that CBGO video with ex-Bear DE Corey Wootton, he said that if you allow a rookie QB's confidence to be broken, you have broken your QB1 from that point on. I figure you break your new toy that way and yes, you can ruin him. He said he wasn't predicting that happening to Caleb Williams, but that is the (very real) risk you run with this OL. He just blasted this OL and the coaching. He also said that the OL is so bad that the Bears (in order to not ruin Caleb) need to lock down and go into max-protect this season... and that will suck for the offense production, but it will save Caleb Williams. Just hunker down with TE's and extra blocking to make up for not having an OL this year.

I've been saying the same thing about max protect. From stuff coming out yesterday, it sounds like the OL coach OC need to figure this out b/c Jenkins said they are doing what is being taught. I just don't understand how you can be teaching this mess.

This is the same OL as last yr (4 of 5 starters returning) and its not like the one other position (C) was manned by some stud last season. There's no reason personnel-wise for the results to be so bad thus far.
That puts the bullseye squarely on Morgan the OL coach and Waldron the OC.

OL coach definitely has some explaining. I'll give the OC a bit more time.

FWIW, Corey Wootten said Nate Davis (for some unknown reason) has clearly quit. He said he is loafing and doesn't seem to care about football. Thayer was criticizing Braxton Jones for not putting the work in the off season to get stronger - and questioned his effort as a direct result. The C position has a new guy who (at best) should be a backup. Jenkins is getting blown up - badly - like we have never seen before. I wonder if he is healthy or not. Something is going on there for sure.
This is our 2024 offensive line. That is on Ryan Poles. It looks like the coaches were given chicken crap and asked to make chicken salad. That's not going to happen. Crap is crap.

I share your frustration, JABF, but have a slightly different take. I see players UNDER-PERFORMING and put some onus on coaches for that.
Like I said, 4 of the 5 are returning starters. The 5th new starter is replacing a guy who sucked last yr (Patrick) and he's started many games in the NFL competently, including a Super Bowl. I'm not saying we have elite talent, we don't, but we also don't have 5 practice squad rookies out there either.
It shouldn't look THIS bad. Coaches bear some blame for that and they need to be kicking some ass to fix it. They knew about Nate Davis in TC for instance.
