The good news is that CW does seem to be getting better. Is it because the Colts are the worst team we have played so far? I'm sure that helps, but real game reps help. I see him really leading the team in the huddle. He is a natural at that. The performance on the throws needs to get there. One thing I did not expect is the average accuracy to date. Now, I am blaming him on the missed throws and I don't know that's the case. Either he or the WR are not in the right place. It's DJ Moores second year, so if I have to pick who is wrong between them, I'd have to go with CW. Toss a coin for CW and Odunze. They are both trying to get it down with this being the first year for both.
But I think as CW gets better (or gets fitted for a wheelchair first), he will be better at buying time and making his opportunities become more successful. I want to see what he looks like in his next game. Don't get me wrong, I was hoping he would be another Stroud out of the chute, but that was unrealistic. I see progress. it just needs to keep happening.

If he can make it to 2025 in one piece (with this OL that is not a given) then I do believe Ryan Poles will (finally) fix the OL. That will open up a run game and a passing game in 2025. Until then, I just hope Caleb doesn't "learn" some bad habits this year trying to compensate for the OL woes (both the run-blocking failure and the pass-protect failure). The skill players will shine next year when we have a solid OL that will allow them to play to their true ceiling potential.
CW’s stats yesterday from a clean pocket were impressive. He needs some help upfront and some decent play calling.
Sure, but seriously shouldn't any QB that has made it to the NFL be good with a clean pocket? The trick is that you can play under adversity because most plays just are.
And most of the guys who can't play even with a clean pocket, we have already brought in to be our QB

That’s my point. We’ve never had a qb who could play from a clean pocket. Never. CW looks to be the guy, our coaching? Not so much….
I'm pretty sure I mentioned this on another thread, but seems to fit here with the last few posts. Flus said there would be no changes to the OL, so it has to be hoping the same guys do better against worse DL. That is a reasonable assumption, but at least to me, some changes need to happen also
I have to believe that what is driving this decision is that HE believes the best move is to keep the 5 guys together for continuity. The starting 5 didn't have much time together in summer camp and preseason, so he may not want to change the unit around with a changed lineup again. They must feel Shelton > Kramer at C too.
What continuity? There is none. It’s just chaos trying to block blitzes and stunts. Assuming all the backups are even worse, that’s really an indictment of Poles.

Yeah. Well, we may have wasted a year. Is should get fixed this offseason. At this point, I have to believe Poles will fix it. If not, then he is part of the problem and the future does not look so good
