So we have 4 picks in the first 3 rounds and we supposedly need an edge, LT, LG, RG, C.Assuming no additional needs, what position do we skip. Forget FA at the moment.

Since you said you accept ESPN, here is their “win” rate rankings of tackles last season. Brax was at 93%, which was one of the best in the NFL. I watched every game, and, to my eyes, this is ACCURATE.

Yep. LT cannot be a replacement level player. Need to try and find an improvement.
LG/RG you have a guy that doesn't want to play, and a guy that struggles to stay healthy.
C you have a net negative.
Doesn't have to just be in the draft but the majority of that does.

I disagree about Edge. Dexter is emerging really well at DT and that’ll be the second pass rusher which opens up opportunities for DE2 because Sweat and Dexter will command the attention.
I would be totally fine if those four picks were all OL.

They said correctly that the Bears haven’t had a legit center since Olin Kreutz in 2010, which, no accident, was the last time Bears made a serious run. I admit I voted for Odunze, but now realize Poles should have traded down and got Powers-Johnson. Is Poles going to fart around more at center position or draft one no later than second round?
I thought the idea of drafting Amegadjie in 3rd round was that he could develop as tackle to replace Brax or play RT and move Wright to RG (where I think he belongs anyway).

I think Booker has potential to take Edge spot, and the DL will be fine.

I still think Odunze was the right choice. It doesn't have to be one or the other. Poles had a chance to draft a C further down or address it in FA. Just because he did not end up addressing it does not make Odunze any less of a choice. And if hehad not taken Odunze, who knows who he would have taken. You are assuming a C because we all wanted one and are saying it was a need. He never really poured a lot into C, so he may not have seen it as something he would have gone after anyway. We will never know.

They said on ESPN that there was serious consideration of Powers-Johnson by Poles before he finally pulled the trigger for Odunze. I know P-J came to Chicago for a “30 visit” and Bears were favorably impressed.
The other thing they said is that teams should build the offense from inside to out rather than from outside to in. Nothing works if the OL doesn’t block.

+1 It's like a car without an engine. You are not going anywhere.

Sure you can. On the way home from the game I saw two guys pushing their car out of a gas station. You reminded me of that, lol

I agree. This is all very, very preliminary at this point but what we have seen thus far tells me the DL has been a very pleasant surprise and the OL has been the opposite.
We are gonna have 3 picks in the top-60 (could be top-40 if Bears season goes south). We may also have two 3rds if Ian Cunningham gets a GM job which seems inevitable at some point. That could be as much as 5 picks in the top-100 and the 6th for Fields looks likely to become a 4th as Russell Wilson looks cooked.
If things don't turn around dramatically, Poles needs to be spending 2 of those top 3 picks on OL AND hitting the FA market for more. Tevin Jenkins doesn't look like he's gonna be getting a 2nd contract here so he's gone in FA too.
