The QB/IOL were 100% all bad. QB was bad on his own, the IOL was bad on it's own. This wasn't a QB waiting to long and hurting his IOL, and there are plenty of tape that show CWill wasn't just bad b/c of the IOL
I watched some of that last night. It will be interesting to see how the team adjusts for this 2nd game of the season. I'll be honest, I was concerned about the Titans game being a tough outing. Tougher than many thought it was going to be. On a positive note, the DL did well. But part of that I think was due to the Titans OL woes. Let's see what they can do against Houston.
The Bears OL needs a legit quality center and I figure it's going to be 2025 for that to happen. I am so sick of the C being the Achilles Heel of the offensive line each year. It has been a parade of wannabee's there. It pulls down the G play too, when the C is a problem.
Shane Waldron is better than he showed for this 1st game. He needs to get his head out of his butt though. He did not set up this O for success. It was his 1st game here so he gets a mulligan. But we need to see better plays called against Houston. Gotta admit I was disappointed in Waldron as much as I was disappointed in the IOL. Oh, and when I reviewed the OL work, Jenkins had a bad day... not like him to be that bad. Wonder what's up with that? I get it that the Titans DL is good. I was still disappointed in Jenkins' play. And one last thought I'll toss out there. I've been very vocal criticizing Nate Davis. But when I went back and reviewed his play in this game, I have to admit that he was not the problem. He looked decent (I only saw one bad play). They were managing his snap count due to him coming back from injury and they pulled him. But I have to admit he was one of the better guys on that IOL. LOL, I know we all like to beat up on the guy here on the messageboard... but if he can play whole games and the entire season, at he level he played in a partial game on Sunday - we have zero problems at RG (if he can stay healthy... a big "if" I'll admit).

As far as Waldron goes, he is in the same category as Williams. I know the reputation, but show me on Sundays I have not formed an opinion on him yet. I know Williams was not a factor in that win. At least to my eyes. I haven’t decided on Waldron yet. I didn’t see anything that I can say I didn’t like but saw no magic either. To be fair, he is working with a completely rookie QB that he doesn’t quite know the best yet and an OL with a weak center I don’t know what the center position looks like for the next draft but they aren’t that hard to get in terms of what you have to give up to get one, we need a nasty lock down center. Right now, we do have a nasty one but not in the same way I was hoping for
riczaj01 after watching that Chase Daniels' 22-breakdown you posted in the Shoutbox (LINK), I guess I was wrong about Shane Waldron's play calling. Daniels points out a number of plays that were good by design but poorly executed. My bad.
Looks like there was a "lot of meat left on the bone" in that game due to guys not executing the O well... which I can understand with a rookie QB and the IOL struggled against a great DL.

You are being to kind w/saying it was just a weak C. no one on the OL had a good take T to T. That Tenn DL is legit and Daniels points out he doesn't think the OL will look this bad again. But as JTO point out, you cannot be substituting in OL players like the Bears were.
I'm like JABF, I'm tired of the Bears constantly passing on the C like it doesn't matter. It's been a long time since Kreutz was here, and the Bears haven't had anything really close sense either.

Yeah I was surprised they didn't draft an IOL in round 3. This really need to be a priority in round 2 of 2025, maybe even both picks that round.
Here is the tweet; and thanks for the find Malaga ton of good info here.

After watching, rewatching and combing through the All-22, here are my thoughts on the Bears week 1 win vs the Titans - Caleb Williams had a rough day. But it was a little bit better on the rewatches. If Allen doesn’t drop that TD, a couple balls don’t get batted at the line, and the line holds up for half a second longer on a few plays it would have been a fine debut. Excuses work in week 1, if we’re still making excuses at the end of the year we have a problem - Shane Waldron was operating like he was in year 4 in Seattle, not year 1 in Chicago with a rookie QB, new center, and 2 new WRs. The simple stuff worked, roll with it - the Bears have two solid young OTs but I do wonder if they are at their ceiling at solid. Which wouldn’t be the worst thing. - Teven Jenkins was their worst OL, Shelton played slightly better than I thought outside of 2 plays. Teven won’t be that bad again this year but the whole interior needs an overhaul this offseason - Gervon Dexter flashed high end traits and abilities multiple times. But wasn’t playing at a high level on a snap by snap basis. If he can become more consistent the Bears have a superstar - Jaylon Johnson is the best CB in football which makes Tyrique Stevenson the most important CB in football. Teams aren’t even going to challenge JJ so he will be targeted a lot this year. So far he’s delivered - when Austin Booker was on the field the Titans found him and ran right at him - I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself with Darrell Taylor. He was as advertised as a rusher but played the run too which is not his strength. But if he plays the first 6 weeks like he did Sunday we should be talking extension. - Demarcus Walker is a really solid player. He plays the run and rushes the passer from multiple alignments. He’s the type of player you need on your team to win a Super Bowl but isn’t the guy who wins you a Super Bowl if that makes sense
This is why Booker is depth and why Taylor and Walker are well ahead of him and Walker is starting. So glad Dexter is getting praise, thought he played well last year. Booker is a prospect and should be used sparingly until he figures out how to stop the run.
Cannot disagree w/anything they said about the OL, T-T none were good. I do disagree that the T's ceiling is passable, if that's it, you need 2 new OT's as well as 3 IOL.
Stevenson had an amazing day, that TD he gave up was an outstanding play by the WR more then it was a blown play by him; and he more then made up for it.
I think that's the biggest complaint about Waldron, he needs to realize what he's working with and adjust. His stuff can work, but he needs to make sure his qb, and the players around the qb can do what he's asking.

Way too early to throw shit at the wall but I like this for the IOL:
1. Cut bait with Davis & sign KC FA RG Trey Smith to a 4/88M with 55M guaranteed & a 24M signing bonus. 2. Draft USC C Jonah Monheim with the lower 2nd round pick. He may drop to round 3. 3. Depending on his availability & production extend Jenkins to a 3 year affordable contract that is front loaded.
