Meredith has had a solid year. He did play WR his last two seasons though at Illinois State, here in Bloomington-Normal. He is a VERY gifted all-around athlete & made the transition to WR well. He holds at least one all-time ISU receiving record after making the switch from QB to WR here.
His route running has improved tremendously. He does run sweet routes now. He is a big target too. Tough kid. Tough as nails and durable.
AJ, Wilson and White are so fragile. Part of being a solid WR is being able to play on gameday.
Meredith is going to have a great NFL career. He is a good kid too. I hope we can keep him as a Chicago Bear.
Here we go again. Guess I'm never coming back into this thread, the idiots are out in force. If I'm ever named a mod, certain people are being banned the first day. Thats a promise.
EDIT from Brad Biggs: (note: no one is claiming Meredith can't play, but if you actually think Meredith is better than Jeffery than you need serious help. Like stop posting. You are just wrong or you are just trolling and should be banned from the board.)
2. I don’t think Cameron Meredith is ever going to be in the discussion as a legitimate No. 1 wide receiver and reality is he might be a No. 3 or No. 4 in a really good passing attack. But he’s done something impressive this year and he just might lead the Bears in some key categories with only one game remaining. Meredith played in 11 games as an undrafted rookie free agent from Illinois State last season and managed to catch 11 passes for 120 yards. It’s one thing for UDFAs to make a splash. It’s another thing for them to break through that low ceiling and really begin to produce. You will see UDFAs make plays on occasion. You start to get excited about them and then they just tend to disappear. That’s what happens with the majority of them really. They’re undrafted for a reason. But Meredith has gone far above and beyond that, turning in nine receptions for 135 yards and a touchdown. He leads the team with 62 receptions (11 ahead of Alshon Jeffery) and is also tops in yardage with 827 (16 ahead of Jeffery). Meredith and injured tight end Zach Miller lead the team with four receiving touchdowns. Meredith also has a team-high four 100-yard games.
In a season that has gone awry, Meredith certainly fits into the depth chart for 2017 at a position which will have plenty of questions moving toward free agency and the draft.
“Definitely feel like I have made strides,” Meredith said. “Every day I am working to get better and stuff like that. You want the team success as a whole, for sure. But at the same time if you are making plays and getting better, it’s still good.
“You have to keep getting better every day, you never know what you can do in this league until you do it. I just go out there every day and try to make plays. When you start making plays and stuff you start to feel yourself a little bit. So, last year I didn’t have that many plays I made but I definitely knew I could play in the league so it was all about getting out there and doing it.”
The touchdown, a 21-yard strike from Matt Barkley, was really pretty as Meredith accelerated past free safety Will Blackmon to the corner of the end zone for a wide open grab. Good route. Good throw.

Meredith has had a stellar season and claiming he's a better WR than Jeffery, while a bit exaggerated, isn't an idiotic comment. Jeffery's struggled to stay healthy the last two years. He also hasn't shown the ability to routinely get open as a #1 receiver against dbl teams. Josh Norman, a top tier DB basically owned Alshon yesterday. So, while Meredith isn't as good a receiver as Jeffery, I think he's a better value as a receiver and, at least the past two years, a more durable receiver whose stock is climbing.

I don't think you worry about banning anyone if you made Mod, most would just leave
It would be great to have AJ and White come back next year and have great seasons. I would love that. I still believe Meredith is becoming a solid NFL wide receiver. Watch. He will have a long successful NFL career, if not for the Bears then for another team. It has been enjoyable watching the kid develop. He arrived in the NFL with minimal experience at WR - and even that was at a lower tier school (Missouri Valley Conference ISU).
I'm not saying Meredith is more gifted than White or AJ. LOL, White may be the next Jerry Rice for all I know... if he ever gets healthy and, you know, actually play in football games for us. AJ has had some rough years lately health-wise too. He is an amazing talent (I think) when he's able to play.
Brad Biggs wrote this a few hours ago. It is a realistic assessment of Meredith. I do like this kid's attitude. He's just a good kid, IMHO. He may never be a great WR, but I do believe he will have a long career, and a good one.

He may or may not be a #1 WR, and I think we can start to maybe worry about culling the WRs that are not league top WRs when all we have are top WRs. Right now, given our level of the passing game, whatever level he is at compared to other teams WRs, he is a contributor for the Bears. Why anyone is down on him, I don't get. Until our level of play at WR is such that Meredith looks like the weak sister, we should be happy he is here an embrace him. But that's just me.
