As the roster stands today, we have a potential franchise QB, which Eberflus has no historical experience developing, and a loaded roster with an HC in charge that has never won anywhere.
The same could be said of Bill Belichick when the Browns fired him. He was a D background rookie head coach there too. The Browns kicked him to the curb. And to be fair, Belichick made some big blunders there. But rookie head coaches do that. But then the Patriots hired the guy (who had never won anywhere and who had no history of developing a QB). He had a 5-win season in his first year there. But then he drafts Tom Brady and the rest is history. Literally a Hall of Fame career. It took 6 years for Belichick to become a solid HC (5 years with the Browns and his 1st year of struggles with the Patriots). Eberflus has had 2 seasons so far. And one of those was a year with a gutted tank-year roster. Could he be a failure as a head coach? Yeah, he could. But I'm personally wanting to watch how he does this year before making up my mind about him. Will he make some bone head mistakes this year though? Count on it. He definitely will. Watch the meatball fans over-react to every mistake he makes this year. It's how the meatballs roll.
Why so much talk about meatballs? You're making me hungry.
