Who/What else are we thinking is available right now? Does this shock anyone that UDFA and guys signing to be on their +4th practice squad in +4 years are what teams are looking at? Do we think other teams are out there signing APs and HOFers to their practice squads?
He'll be gone in a few weeks with a check for $20,000 and a jersey signed by everyone.
Poles is churning the bottom of the roster. Nothing to see here.
as Brasil point out why is anyone surprised by the churning of the backend of the roster; especially w/a position that lost its starting C and LS. Shocking they would bring in a low cost C to get a look at.
I keep thinking the DL & OL will get upgraded next draft and FA.
I mean technically they were upgraded the past 2 drafts too.
I just expect they will get upgraded further next year. Especially with 3 picks in the first two rounds I'll be surprised if they don't give the lines some attention.

Need to put equal to more attention into that line as they did the DL. Get that OL to where it's top 5-10 across the board.

It really does, doesn't it? I'm usually a Kool Aid guy on these signings and try to find something positive to say. But this guy is about as obscure of a dude as you'd find. I think he was a walk-on at Virginia but eventually became the starter there at RG. I looked at his measurables to see if by chance he had Orangutan length arms. No luck there. And his RAS scores must be about on par with old Virginia McCaskey's (oil up her wheelchair and I'll bet she could take him in the 40).
But then again, he did snap the ball 8 times in college and 23 times last year for the Jets. So there's that I guess...
until Poles spends a high draft pick or some serious FA $$$ on a center, my theory is that his plan is to keep throwing enough shit against the wall and hope to get lucky. This move fits right into that theory. He just doesn’t put much value on the position. But maybe he’ll get around to it next year.
Well, one school of thought is that Poles has confidence in his ability to scout OL as a former-OL and therefore thinks he can save a few bucks there so to speak. He did make a nice find with Brax in the 5th round.
OTOH, he has spent a top-10 draft pick on OL (Wright) and spent a pretty sizable amount in FA. I admit he hasn't had success at C and I thought he should have spent a 3rd-4th round pick there. I wasn't a fan of using that pick this year on a pre-injured Tackle project from a small program. I think he should have taken the best C on the board and left Borom's replacement for next year.
