This doesn't surprise me. We all love Jenkins when healthy, but man, he doesn't stay healthy.
Also, I think that Kiran's future is actually potentially at left tackle, so starting him on the left side but at guard isn't a bad move - it gives them flexibility to either kick Kiran out to LT if they feel he is ready (and Jenkins remains healthy this year), or keep him and draft a replacement for Jones, who is horribly overrated and was getting pushed around again in the last preseason game - Jones is a swing tackle at best, and we need to protect Williams' blind side - but you don't want to just trust that to a rookie without seeing him get his feet wet first and seeing what they are capable of.
As much as I like Jenkins, he is gonna have to have a really good year to get extended. As in, playing really well (improved pass pro) and staying healthy 15+ games.
Otherwise, I think they are gonna let him walk. I was not a fan of the Kiran pick so I hope he pans out to have some value.

I want to try Kiran at RT and move Wright to RG. I agree on Jenkins and Davis. This OL is still a work in progress.
FWIW, on a side note, it sounds like Nate Davis looked like total crap today at practice. Not ready to play football.
Where did you hear that?
It sounds very believable and wouldn't surprise me at all. Guy doesn't seem to have much of a work ethic.
I heard it on one of the Bears' beat writers' podcasts. I can't remember which one off the top of my head. But they said he did look really bad - and if he's not practiced much this year that is probably true. He is not that good of a player anyway. I'm thinking they will have to make him a depth player... a $30-million dollar backup. Arghhh...
