There were so many who played well. I think I'm giving the game ball to Poles & Eberflus. When you think of how far this team has come under them it's pretty impressive. The tank season in 2022, and an improved roster last year - and going this upcoming 3rd season the team looks night-and-day better. Yes, it's just a preseason game but there is no denying this is a far far better team.
I'd be surprised if any of those three are cut. Could happen if course. When you cut a vet you need to consider not only the cost (dead cap) of cutting the player but also the replacement cost + the time to spool up a new guy in the OFF/DEF.
Jones is 3rd year of a 3rd round rookie contract, his "potential" is still intriguing to the team (for some reason) Cheap + Really Fast + "potential" = one more year. Jones cap number is 1.4 mill.
Scott is 2nd year of of a 4th round rookie contract. If we all claim it takes 2 years for a WR to figure it out then he's not going anywhere. His cap number is one mill. Steal of a deal for a 4th WR.
Davis costs more to cut (and replace) than to keep as depth or an object lesson. He's not going anywhere. Cutting Davis saves $600,000. Thats what George McCasky spends eating out for the year. Can you name a G who can come in and provide NFL-experience depth (not saying good or great just depth) for $600,000?
We just need to follow the money with guys like these. Money talks. I'm not saying these guys deserve to make the team, but there is little upside to cutting them (until VJJ starts dropping kickoffs regularly). The only reason to cut them would be to satisfy a small vocal minority of the fan base. My brothers, who I watch football with whenever I can, who own jerseys, have no idea who Scott, Jones and Davis even are. We more engaged fans do of course, but we are the tiny vocal minority.

I think a second reason to cut one of them would be if they signed another player and they could not find any other players that they wanted to cut more. Always a possibility, but there are lots of churn type players on the roster so that may not be a viable alternative in the end. Still an option though

I can see that. But like you said, if they are churning through the bottom of the roster at WR, its going to be one of the PS WRs that gets cut, not Scott or VJJ.

The reason to cut is not so much about the money, but to open up a roster spot for somebody who can catch a football (WR) or stay on the active roster (G).
