It's a short read but pretty cool. I do like this guy a lot - on and off the field.
LINK Bears fans will lose their minds over recent Tyson Bagent comments To some, it might sound like hyperbole. But, the man believes every word he's speaking.
Bagent looks pretty good but Rypien looked awesome in last Thursday's game.
I thought that too. But, I would just add that we have seen Bagent look decent going against real NFL starters in real NFL games. Rypien looked great against 2nd and 3rd stringers - and he should look good against those guys. I don't claim to know who is best (Rypien vs Bagent) but just thinking a pre-preseason game should be taken with a grain of salt.
Bagent has actually won a couple games as a starter.
That's all you reasonably ask from your backup -- give you a chance and maybe go 500 while your starter is out.
That's a solid NFL #2 and most teams don't have that.
+1 Having a backup QB who can play .500 ball is pretty decent for an NFL backup. At least I'm fine with that. Heck there are starting NFL quarterbacks every year who can't get that much done.

And Bagent got there by doing what Rypien did in preseason.
All I'm saying is that we could be in a very enviable situation of having two really solid backup QBs. And if one can win over 50% of his starts, you have some real trade value.
Just read an article that the Bears want to keep Rypien. Not sure what that means for Bagent. He won't last long on the practice squad.
I agree. If we try to put either one on the PS, we will lose the player.
It really looks like we have two legitimate QB2's. And it is possible that either Bagent or Rypien could be a solid "game manager" starting QB, on the right team (and with the right system). That is why I am hoping we can find a trade partner.
