Who's to say Atl wasn't scared that the Bears would take that pick and ask for a ransom for the next QB desperate team.
that makes NO sense b/c NO one was looking at QB there, specifically the QB they took who wasn't seen as a top 10 pick anyways; no one was trading up for a qb there, let alone for a kings randsom. This isn't NFL madden, nor is it some mock site w/implausible trade options. My best guess is there was still internal debate in ATL on who they were going to take when the Bears called, and a 4th rd wasn't going to get them to move if they took Odunze. Thank goodness that Atl flubbed that pick so badly; and refused to consider the trade.
You know that how? This draft wasn't your typical draft. First defensive player taken off at #15 breaking the original record of #8. We don't know if someone was trading for a QB there. Falcons were concern and didn't trade their pick to make sure they get their guy.

Go back and look at the reactions by EVERYONE regarding that pick. It was resoundingly mocked, even by other nfl execs; on top of the analysts. Penix wasn't seen as a top 10 pick, barely a 1st round pick. This isn't even Mitch going first overall, this was literally out of left field. Age, injury history, and limited as a qb. Zero reason to draft him. And again, NO team is trading up one to trade back a bunch, that doesn't happen outside of mock sites and madden games.

Not quite. I can tell you that fans on the Seahawks forum were crazy for Penix. Local hero worship. I think the guy has potential to be a total bust. I wanted Nix. But when it comes to QBs, we can all come out looking like fools.

Local college fanbois are not nfl execs or analysts.

Definitely. Everyone should want a Penix
no one should want an old, pre injured, injury prone limited qb, that is why, outside of the north west and all 10 of his fans, EVERYONE laughed at the pick.

I am sooooooooooooo thankful the Bears didn't draft him. LOL, the name jokes would never end.
