One person's reaction, in particular, sent the fanbase into a frenzy.

Right after the Bears selected Odunze with the ninth pick, Bears assistant general manager walked up to general manager Ryan Poles and dropped an absolute bombshell: "[We got our] number one and number two player though," Cunningham said.

In that episode, Poles was visibly shocked after the Odunze pick, because the Bears didn't have to trade up to get him. "Can't believe it ... I can't believe it ... the perfect day ... we didn't have to give up anything," Poles said aloud after the selection was made. Now, Williams and Odunze still have to prove it on the field. There is a long way to go....

I am really going to miss Cunningham. I truly wonder how good Poles is without him. But I have a feeling we are going to find out

I don’t know what Poles would have produced without the two #1 picks, but we sure as hell wouldn’t be here, and those picks are the results of incredible luck, not skill, and that’s not to mention getting lucky that Williams came into the draft in 2024 rather than 2023.

I think history will prove that missing on Jalen Carter will be his worst mistake, although CJ Stroud may be in the running if he wins a Super Bowl and Poles does not.

I was stunned the Bears passed on Carter. If it had been me, I would have picked him at #9. But I think passing on Jalen Carter is going to be rated as one of the greatest moves Ryan Poles has done in his career as the Bears GM.

Notqithstanding how he fell off as his rookie season progressed, I think the Eagles will have their hands full dealing with his mental issues. I'm getting a Chandler Jones vibe from Carter. Unbelievable talent, but will go from team to team wearing out his welcome at each stop.

I have to agree with being lucky to have #1 pick 2 years in a row. On the other hand I do believe Poles set us up to have a couple top 10 picks, which potentially could have been used to trade up to try and get Caleb. Lucky to get the top pick and not have to trade away the 9th pick. Thus Odunze is icing on the cake.

I agree. Luck is a factor in sports - both good luck and bad luck. I do like how Poles put us in a position for luck to happen. I strongly believe the best GMs in professional sports have this gift.

Caleb was consensus #1 QB. I don’t think Bears or anybody else would have been able to trade up for him, even offering a Trey Lance deal. Now we just have to see if he was worth it.
