I don’t see Poles as a great drafter. However, due mostly to luck and fleecing the stupid Panthers owner, I see a great opportunity to be Super Bowl ready in this 2025-26 time-frame. The Bears are in win-now mode. If they don’t, the arrow is going to be pointing down once Moore, Sweat, Johnson, Edwards, Edmunds, Allen are gone. It’s simply not realistic to assume these guys are all replaceable with rookies. The team would be back into “rebuild” territory with new management.
It's too early to know if Poles can draft well enough for this model to work over the long haul. Only time will tell if he can or not. But if he can draft well, and supplement that, as needed with FA's (hopefully we re-sign our own players who merit it too) - then we should never have to rebuild. Ever. But that means you have ascending youngsters in the pipeline to replace those guys you choose to not keep. No, it's never going to be perfect. Yes, you will always need some level of FA signings. But I do believe it is in the realm of possibility - if - you have the GM in place who can draft well. Great GM's make their own luck. They position the team so that luck can happen. Bad GMs just crap the bed and get fired.
You are talking about an unknown fantasized future where Poles is a genius drafter and for which little evidenced presently exists.
I am talking about the current team that appears to have most of what’s needed to be Super Bowl ready 2025-26, IF, IF Williams is generational, immortal QB1. Poles should be all-in in draft and FA next year to have a Super Bowl ready defensive line. Win-Now mode fully operational.
I am not interested in becoming the next Dallas Cowboys.

I would love for us to be the next Dallas Cowboys. From there SB is just a step ahead. And we are miles away from Cowboys as a franchise, miles. In fact (regarding results) in the last decade or even 2 we are very bottom of the league.

+1 To put this in perspective, I never thought I'd live to see the day where the Bears had gotten so bad as a franchise that they need to get as good as the (formerly joke of the NFC) Detroit Lions. They are Division Champions now. That is how far the franchise has fallen in the past few decades.
In light of this, Bears fans need some perspective. The roster has undergone one of the most complete teardowns you will ever see in the NFL. Then the team went through its first season in 2022 with Poles/Eberflus - in a tank year that set the stage for where we are at now... with a franchise QB1 and incredibly upgraded talent. No, the Bears are not finished yet. But we are so close to the finish line right now (2025 draft and FA). But we are really just beginning our 1st Poles/Eberflus season with the roster 90% rebuilt.
I find it disheartening that any Bears fan would look at what hard work has accomplished so far - and call it dumb luck. Great GM's make their own luck. And ours has positioned our team for luck to happen. But now we need to just sit back and what the season unfold. And enjoy better football and a better Chicago Bears team. Exciting stuff for those who can relax and enjoy it.

Cowboys haven’t won a Super Bowl in nearly 30 years. Every year their fans think THIS is the year! I want a Super Bowl now — not a perineal pretender. It’s a personal thing for me. One more Super Bowl is on my “bucket list” and at age 77 the clock is ticking. I am believing Bears are in win-now mode until evidence proves otherwise. I am on the verge of putting $100 on over 8.5 wins.

Look no further than our present Chicago Bears roster for "Exhibit A" factual proof. This is arguably the best Bears roster of young ascending players (led by the best QB1 prospect since the 1939 draft of prospect Sid Luckman) that I have witnessed in my lifetime. Certainly the best since 1985.
Great GM's make their own luck. And Poles has certainly positioned this Bears team for luck to happen. He was masterful in orchestrating the tradedown that set up 2024 and getting Caleb Williams and a roster loaded with talent now.

Any GM can tank the team and hope to find the next Brady in the draft. Sorry, I don’t applaud playing for luck.
However, I am very happy that Poles got incredibly lucky two years in a row. Otherwise, this team would be nowhere near Super Bowl ready 2025-26. But we ARE here and NOW is the time to cash in the chips.

Let's just enjoy the improved team. And thank your lucky stars we have a GM this talented now. I think the "real" luck was the Bears finally getting a GM that has the skill set to turn the franchise around.

I am happy with the results so far — more luck than skill IMO, but we can both enjoy the improved team.
