As quarterback Jay Cutler’s tenure in Chicago appears to be over, former first-round pick Blake Bortles could be staring at a similar fate in Jacksonville as the offseason approaches. After head coach Gus Bradley’s long-expected firing this week, the next big question facing the Jaguars is whether their new coach will want his pick of who lines up under center.
How that plays out could open the door for the Bears to trade for Bortles, who is only 24 years old — despite his receding hairline — and will be an appealing target for teams looking for a player who’s proved to be productive and who may just need a change of scenery.......
Why would anyone think the Bears would be interested in trading for a QB. Barkley has done a damn good job and if Shaw, who the Bears were higher on the Barkley. can come back a 100%. What would the Bears want to waste CAP Bortles or for that matter any QB, except maybe a UDFA.
I keep hearing that Barkley is a RFA also, although online shots show he's a UFA. If he is a RFA then there is no way Barkley is getting out of Chicago unless someone offers him STUPID money.
"Before making such a move, Chicago will have to be convinced that Bortles is an upgrade over Matt Barkley. The 26-year-old fourth-year pro has actually played better than Bortles over the last month of the season and, despite not being as physically gifted as Bortles, could end up with a better NFL career."
He may be no better than Barkley. Maybe even worse.
Holy Crap!!! Trading for a QB is not a good idea, especially for Bortles. It would cost the Bears too much and they wouldn't even be getting a good QB. Bortles is not good. The Bears would be even more dumb than the Texans for paying to get Osweiler. If you want a mediocre QB then just save your money and keep Barkley. If you're going to be bad you might as well do it with a rookie or something.

Trade Cutty for Bortles straight up.. LOL I am with JJ on this and see what we have in Shaw first before we try to trade for a QB. At the very least we draft another QB in rounds 3-5. The QBs aren't worth a damn this year from what I am reading anyways.
