I was watching this again. Why on earth did we not give the ball to Howard on that last drive at the goal line? There is no way the Packers would have stopped Howard from getting into the EZ on two plays (3rd and 4th down). It reminded me of Seattle crapping away a Super Bowl win by not running the rock on the goal line. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
If they knew they were going for the tie*, why not pass on first down and then run on 2nd and 3rd before kicking the FG and leaving Rogers with no time?
There in lies the issue w/Fox and Loggains, they aren't thinking ahead, they seem to literally take it one play at a time; ie chess vs checkers. If you are willing to accept a tie, then you run the ball 3 times forcing GB to use their time outs, and still leave them w/next to no time left. If they were left w/40 sec's left, even if they do get that 60 yard bomb, they cannot run down, get set, and spike that ball in 40 sec's; and that's IF they are able to get that play off on the first try.
wonder who called the play to have Barkley pass on that 3rd down? They talk about Virginia getting "pissed" and all. I'm surprised the old lady didn't have a stroke and die after that series. LOL, heck, I almost had a stroke and died after that series.
The OL is looking good run-blocking. Your RB is ripping off 5ypc all day long. But your QB is winging ints on his way to a 4-turnover day. Let's see, hmmmmm, you elect to pass on third down... fail to eat the clock time remaining - and wait for it - you give Aaron Rodgers the ball for the easy win.
Talk about crap for brains. I can't let that one go... I keep thinking about it. I realize the season is gone, and it shouldn't matter. But that gave the game, gift wrapped, to the Packers. I sat stunned in front of my TV. My brain couldn't even BEGIN to process that failed play calling.
Now that I think about it. Old Virginia should have come down from the stands and drop kicked Fox's balls right out of the Soldier Field stadium. One pissed old lady putting it where it hurts on old Foxy (a real Fox owie).
There is just no excuse for the last series, but I saw someone suggest that they are trying out Barkley. So that might explain why Howard isn't getting 25-30 carries.
Howard could be the first RB since Payton to average over 5 ypc over an entire season. Use your best players. Run the ball with Howard, throw the ball to Jeffery, manage the clock and go home with a win. I think I just made a solid case to be the next OC. Keep It Simple Stupid.

So they sacrificed the game to give Barkley training camp experience?
