I was surprised though.  There was data posted by some last night by NFL pundits that pointed to how it does contribute (at times) to wins (sounds crazy, I know... If I find one of those articles or YouTubes I'll post it here). 

Apparently that is exactly what this kid did for Iowa.  There were games that were won because of him. 

I had no clue.  I don't follow Iowa at all.  But apparently this kid is a technician.  They compare his ball placement with his kicks to be like a skilled pro golfer placing their ball where they want it.  Absolute precision.  To help win games.

No question, a 4th round pick for a punter seems crazy.  I agree.  But like Hogue said, if you were to spend a 4th on a punter, then this is the guy to do that on.  The comps for Tory are to Ray Guy.  A punter who was a 1st round pick (LOL, that's not a typo), whom I remember VERY well from the 1970's.  Three time Super Bowl winner.  He played forever for the team that drafted him in the 1st round.  Dude was always in the Pro Bowl. 

He is in the Hall of Fame.

If this kid is truly as good as Ray Guy, then yes, he will actually win games for us.  You could certainly do worse with a 4th round pick than spending it on a guy like that.  This is not your typical JAG here that you pick up as an UDFA.  Day-1 starter too.  I can't get too upset over the pick.  And take it in the context of this years crappy talent by the time the 4th round came.  

I think of it like this... with this years lack of talent we could have probably rolled the dice on a "project" DL guy or whatever (the remaining D talent at that point THIS year was weak sauce for sure).  Or.  We could get a Day-1 starter who will probably be here for 10 or more years helping us to win games.  I can't get too upset with the move when I frame it that way.  LOL, and now I'm chomping at the bit to watch this "generational punter guy"
