What you two are discussing is precisely why I had the flash of what might happen with Flus and Waldron. Assuming of course that Waldron brings in and executes a highly productive offense.
I dont think Flus will be going anywhere if the Bears have a Top 5 Offense and Top 10 defense. It was a boon for the Bears when Pete Carrol got fired making Waldron available otherwise he would still be in Seattle. If the offense turns it around that quickly with a rookie QB maybe there is interest in Waldron but he'd probably be pretty picky in choosing the right HC gig to walk away from a successful offense & rookie season by CW. We certainly wouldnt be used to the situation but Im pretty sure the best & brightest would be lining up to be the OC working w/Top 5 offense led by rookie phenom QB. We as Bears fans are used to the McCaskeys pinching pennies while scraping the bottom of the barrel in search of an OC resulting in no namers or guys that have never called plays Getsy, Nagy, Tice or old offensive 'geniuses' like Mike Martz where the game had past him by.
Hey, some of those guy had positives...
Tice had his pixie dust and Martz.... um.... he was really good at getting rid of TE's. Getsy was really good at creating confusion. He just needed to do it to the the opponents instead. Nagy.... ok, I got nothing....

On top of that, players have taken notice apparently on how the Bears handled Fields. I read that Poles has a lot of respect from players on how he didn't just trade Fields to any team instead, sending him somewhere he wanted to go.
These are all things that are changing Bear culture for the better.

It sure looks like Warren/Poles/Eberflus are changing the culture for the better. That was a key point that Courtney Cronin was making in that CHGO interview yesterday. After decades of disappointments it is understandably difficult for us fans to believe in this present regime. It is also understandably difficult for people around the NFL to believe in this present regime. But it sure looks like the change has (finally) arrived and Warren/Poles/Eberflus are lifting this franchise up to what it should be. It doesn't happen overnight. Fans struggle with that. Fans also try to find the negative - and that is understandable after decades of negative stuff happening with this franchise. It truly is hard to believe Warren/Poles/Eberflus are the "real deal" now. If this team is finally turned around, you don't fire the head coach who has been an integral part of changing the toxic culture here - and has achieved coaching success. Right?
NFL Fans (except for the Bears): Wow, our OFF was so good that our OC got hired to be HC on another team. Can't wait to see what the [new hire, promoted QB coach, passing game coordinator, protégé of the old OC] does with the OFF now.
Bears fan: WTF!! We're doomed because our OFF was in the top of the league! All the other teams have a plan for when their OFF is top of the league and they lose their OC. They hire from within or find a young QB coach on another team....wait.....WTF! I can't wait to complain that Poles [promoted from within, hired a QB coach from Rams/Bengels/etc]. Stupid Bears. Why did they have to improve the OFF? Why did they hire a DEF-HC who improved the DEF to above respectable and had a hand in hiring the OC who improved the OFF to where he got a HC job. WHY? WHY?

Starting to feel like we're complaining just to complain AND that "THEY SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!"

I'm not interested in seeing this happen. Just interested to see how this develops. I agree that if we reach that top 5/top 10 level of performance, maintaining the coaching staff as is will be the optimum solution.

Not sure that's a fair characterization Brasil
Except we have a thread here about worrying about what the Bears are doing now in case Waldron is hired away down the line. Instead of thinking that its a good thing, OFF got better, Bears have someone on staff the league thought was good enough to be promoted to HC (because that is literally the only place an OC can go--unless he returns to college) and the the foundational players are in place (why the OFF was good in the first place)...we are discussing what? No one is actually saying what will happen, but it must be a return to the Fox-Loggain-Cutler days. Or the team completely falls apart and the OFF backslides to John Shoop levels.
I don't think my characterization is too far off. As a fan base in general (and based on the teams history I can see why) we tend to see good things and only focus on what could go wrong. We had a thread at one point saying that maybe it was a mistake to draft a QB (Fields) who they "might" have to pay down the line. Never mind that fact that the QB might have played well enough to get a second contract. We were all stressed out about the salary cap 3+ years down the line from having to pay a QB they drafted. I mean, its a good thing Fields didn't work out then, because they didn't have to pay him.
We've had posts worrying about losing the player in PA who was signed to what is considered the worst FA contract this season. And this player literally was just a JAG according to all the stats, basic and advanced. Instead of seeing it as a chance to get younger and cheaper on the DL apparently we are doomed!
People are free to fan however they like, just like you are free to mock me for my 9-7 prediction I've had for the like the past 10 years.

Two things can be true at the same time. Things can have gotten better and there can still be an issue down the road when Waldron is gone. How big an issue? Who knows. What I do know is that I’m not going to argue about its. Every little thing mentioned that can be perceived as negative immediately brings up people’s defenses. So fine. We WILL discuss when it happens because it will be an issue. Until then, we can just enjoy the current rebuild and not think or plan for any potential future issues. Some prefer not to think about stuff until it happens. It’s all fine. Neither issue is going to change my life, lol

Well, I did just get home after watching the sun being completely eaten by a dragon on Monday, and now we have the Lyrid meteor shower, so the sky very well could be falling!
