I think we got robbed, but glad it's over. Now we know we will be getting a new QB. With that being the case, I think the best available is Williams so I hope he does not trade down.
No one got robbed. If somebody would have offered more for Fields I'm sure Poles would have taken it. It's clear there wasn't any other interested parties with a better offer.
I understand the marketplace and supply and demand. Even so, I do not think what was given will be commensurate with his on field production.
I think we did, but until this season plays out and it can be seen what they got for a next year 6th rounder, it makes no sense to go back and forth on it. It's just my opinion at this point.
I saw this after my post. The authors words
The Steelers have gotten a steal: Wilson signed a one-year deal for the $1.21 million veteran minimum, and Fields is due $3.233 million for this season.

Underwhelmed by this. If all you are getting is a 6th / potential 4th, why not keep Fields as a backup in case Williams needs time to develop / becomes injured.
Apparently, we are the only people who think Fields had value. I'm a little stunned it wasn't at least a straight up 4th.
Let's see what the pundits have to say about the value Pittsburgh got after next season plays out
Thats when we can fairly evaluate the trade. But in order to make the trade NOW the only info the Bear/NFL have is that Fields was a first round draft pick with expectations, who regardless of the circumstances, didn't perform or produce at the level needed/expected and was going into his 4th year. I'd be stunned if Pitt picked up his 5th year option. So he's a FA next year.
I'm on record as saying I'd roll with Fields and trade down to get more blue chip talent on a team that needs more high level talent. If I still need a QB after the 24-25 season I'd get one with the future assists from the trades. But....I teach math so....

It continues to bear repeating. It is not even a 6th in this draft. We are talking about a 6th IN NEXT YEARS DRAFT. Which is like a 7th or worse this year.

Exactly. Some say, because of a 'riot'. Well f@ck you, getting 5, 10mil $$ and u riot. No. Bad move Poles. In fact, this offseason was bad imo. Proper bad.
