What? That's my opinion and you better respect that even though we all know its blue. Sometime opinions can be wrong.
Exactly. Even opinions masquerading as facts. And that has been my point
I would agree if you only did a small sample size. Problem is every meaningful stat is pointing towards the same direction. We can't just ignore that because of "my feelings".
Jay Cutler was going to light up the league when he left Chicago. Didn't happen. Mitch Trubisky was going to show us his real talent when he left Chicago. Didn't happen. Justin Fields is going to have a real team behind him with a legit HC to bring him into a top 10-15 QB.
Fields has nothing over Cutler or Trubisky in throwing. His highest is 2,600 a season.
I like how Fields cares about the game and team. That's a great leader. Too bad Jay Cutler didn't have that passion. He was a legit QB who just didn't care.

I keep getting drawn back into this. There is really no more I can say. We will see if and when Fields gets a chance to play this season. Right now, while I will be trying to keep an eye on him, my focus is on what is going to happen on the Bears with their 4 draft picks and a new QB to bring along with no real veteran QB help.

Do we really need veteran QB help? This is one of the best situation for a Bear QB to be in.
1000+ Rusher in Swift 2 1000+ Receivers in Allen and Moore 700+ TE in Kmet
We got a solid oline with a few competing pieces. I'm all for Poles trading down if one of the three top WRs are not there and going after JPJ and getting a second rounder back.
This offense on paper is the best we had since 2013 Cutler team.

I do believe that mentorship is an important aspect for when a new QB comes into the NFL. IMO, it is a component of successful integration into the role.
Gist of it is that teams looked as his tape and were not convinced of his value.
Doesn't believe Poles turned down better offers. (I hope he's right on this).
Mentions part of the issue was that Fields only has one year on his contract left.
My guess is, and it's all guessing, it was the difference of a 4th or 5th, or a 6th that could turn into a 4 if he plays. So not a huge difference. And I doubt they were offered a 4th. Backups aren't giving you high value; and the league sees him as a backup, for now.
He'll get his shot to start, just like every other 1st rd pick is always given.
I think that's probably how it went down. And once these players move on to other teams I'm all about focusing on the next guy up. That's all I care about now... the new guy.

lol, so you do you put a cutout of a dude on your wall and say you only care about him? We don't know who owns the cutout yet. Although we all think we know...

But what's the point in putting resources into a FA veteran when we know damn well he won't be here in a year or so. Let the QB struggle early like Josh Allen but provide him the tools to be successful. Allen had way less his first 2 years in the NFL than what Williams has right now. That extra cap space can go for more depth or a better player.

I hear you. But different philosophy. I don't believe in looking at the exceptions and game planning around those. I think you try to plan for the worst and hope for the best. It is a good idea to provide all the supportive tools a new QB will need/use to be successful. Yes, you can throw a kid in a pool and most of the time, he will swim. Give him a teacher instead, and he will swim better.

I wish Fields the best. But I'm all about leaving the past in the past. I can't change it. But I do try to be positive about the future. I am excited about bringing in a new QB - and I'm pretty pumped to watch the guys that will join him. Some new guys are already here for their first Bears season, and more will join them in this draft. Fields? Just another ex-Bear now. Loved the guy when he was a Bear. But he's past history now. Time to move on.
