Well we did happen to have one of the best offenses in the league. We weren't barren of talent on the offensive side of the ball.
And yet the next year, with virtually the same offense staying, we had a horrible offense.
IMO, it is never just the talent and never just the coaches. It is always the inter-relationship between both.
I agree. Each season is it's own entity with many differing circumstances that determine the end result. For example, in 2013 the Bears had an easier strength of schedule than they did the next season. The next year Brandon Marshall was hobbled, the defense basically quit and I think that had a big impact on the team. The "leaders" started to act up and the coaches couldn't control them, couple that with the coaches anonymously talking to papers. And you get what we had.
I don't think any of the issues with this team have to do with players respecting the coaches and playing hard for them. That obviously happens, where as with Trestman, that really wasn't the case, especially on defense.

yeah. I agree. The players are fine with the coaches. Better than the fans are for sure.
I wonder if Trestman really wanted Mel Tucker or not.
Trestman really had little connection back to the League other than Sean Payton...hence Aaron Kromer.
But Payton was a revolving door of defensive staffs Post Super Bowl...so that well was dry.
Emery wanted to retain Lovie's defensive staff...even though none would interview for the HC job.
Surprised that Lovie's Boys told him to piss off...we ended up with Mel Tucker because he somehow agreed to run Lovie Smith's Defense after firing Lovie Smith.
I have no love for Mel Tucker, but he was doomed from the start.
At least Fangio was smart enough to start from scratch.

A percentage of the fans are idiots & half-wits. They have no patience. They want instant gratification. They can't understand how devastating it is to be going through a 2nd year of a major rebuilding effort - and - having a team gutted with injuries to the point we are trying to win with our 5th quarterback of the year, who was signed off the street in September. We have WR's who can't catch worth crap. As of last weekend our #1 wide receiver was a guy (Meredith) who was an undrafted kid out of Illinois State who was a quarterback there until his junior year. Bellamy shouldn't be playing on ANY team's offense, yet he is our #2 WR. I don't even recognise the NAMES of our TE's now. Just no-name kids that really don't know their butts from a hole in the ground. Kyle Long our best OL is on IR. And fans can't understand why the season sucks. LOL.
