He brings this up after the JF and FA stuff... but it is very very interesting. It's one pot of money and the business (stadium project) side does affect cash flow. He explains why and how this is.
Do you think this is legit and the stadium project could be limiting FA spending? This guy explains how it is one business and it could be impacting the big ticket FA moves this year.

I wouldnt put it past the McCaskeys of using it as an excuse to Poles/Cunningham but I dont think they will end up spending a dime of out of their pocket to build a new stadium. They will have team of creative accountants & marketing spin it and package it to look like the city and Illinois tax payers are footing only a portion, instead of 100%.
Aren't they still on the hook for AH taxes? How can they throw so much money around for a stadium they won't actually own? This doesn't make cents to me.

Well, the thing is they are taking at least a year to argue the current tax (while paying it). Then they are going to build a stadium in Chicago and pay rent (while still paying AH tax - and good luck getting a good rate at that point). Eat the short term one year tax, negotiate ongoing taxes when operational, build your stadium, stop squandering tax money and start making revenue

You haven't heard the latest from my neighborhood (I live just a couple of miles from the old racetrack). There is a move in the Illinois State House to help out the City of Chicago get the Bears to stay somewhere near downtown. part of the plan is a swap for the land already purchased by the Bears (the old racetrack) for the land on the city that would be given to the Bears to get them to stay. Then the state would use the land to develop housing for lower income folks.
I saw this as a post on the Nextdoor site for my neighborhood. It was beautiful!! All those NIMBY SOBs were freaking out. How dare the state move welfare recipients next door to my $800k house!! I was having field day posting that if they had just played nice in the sandbox with regards to the assessed value of the land during construction. I'd post a link to the discussion but the mods on Nextdoor shut it down and eventually deleted the whole thread. After only 3 hours it had something like 600 responses.
I had a feeling that Warren was a ruthless and cold-hearted bastard. But if this is his work, it is really something special. You can find some mention of the housing option if you search the name for a State Representative from Arlington Heights, Mark Walker in the news postings.
