I know David. My point on that was that given that more extended timeline, players are aging out and the needs (holes to fill) continue to grow. The life of an NFL GM
I agree. And that is why Bears need to be Super Bowl ready on a realistic timeline.
And thus my concern when I see the timeline extending with the draft choices he has. If he goes QB and WR with the first two picks, we don't have much left to build with this year.

True, but Super Bowl ready 2024 was not the plan. If Williams is immortal QB1, then 2025-26 is where we should be there.

Poles recently said the goal this year is to be a playoff level team. It won't be easy. With a rookie QB and an NFCN division that won't be a cakewalk, I think that is a good (realistic) goal to shoot for. Then in 2025 build on that foundation. Maybe do a deeper playoff run that year - it sure would be great to actually win the NFCN in 2025. That won't be easy, but maybe doable. I think that 2026 would be the target year for having that SB ready team. But who knows, right?

BINGO
We have 3 really huge needs and only 2 premium picks. That's why I was hoping Poles would sign one high-tier FA.

Poles may get fired if he’s not beating Lions and Packers by 2025. Nearly half the teams in the league make the playoffs. In any case, if we’re not there, I hope we’re not going to drag this out for 7 years like Pace.
