This guy has had 35 snaps at center. I did not see any of them.
He was starting guard in 2022, and a backup center in 2023. They also got rid of the center he was backing up, so what does that tell you?

Oh, I don’t doubt that. He probably thought that about Patrick, too. This guy should be better than Patrick, but he’s been in the league for 5 years. We got an average-to-slightly-better-than-average center. I wanted Cushenberry or Powers-Johnson. Poles has the resources to get either of them, but doesn’t want to commit the resources to have a likely Pro Bowl center or at least one much better than Bates. Anybody who can’t see that by now has head in the sand.

Cushenberry is getting about the same contract as Barkley. That seems reasonable to me, but I think we have different estimates on him. I would think multiple GMs seriously wanted him to get the contract up to $50 million. Actions speak louder than words. I would LIKE to believe that he drafted Bates as a backup C/G. I don't believe it. He is following his usual pattern.
