If we get Caleb Williams why not sit him behind JF1 for a season. Hopefully JF1 turns out in season 4 and then the Bears could for the 1st time ever, have legit options at QB. They'd have a tough decision to make if JF1 really lights it up. But it would the Bears a full year to get to know CWs character. If this scenario played out they'd have leverage to get a 1st rounder for Fields. I think contract-wise they'd need to pick up his rookie option by May which would be $22-23M for next season.
It would be awkward to keep Fields but maybe that's better than giving him away for next to nothing.

That's been my thought all along, but other people say it's evil, It would destroy the locker room, etc. If certain other bad elements are controllable in the locker room, I would guess two QBs would also be controllable. If one goes down you don't lose a step with the backup. What locker room wouldn't like that?

Packers commonly do this. Favre/Rodgers, Rodgers/Love. Then there was Montana/Young. I think Fields would handle it fine. Just would hope CW doesnt go Cedric Benson on the team. Then again maybe that was more Thomas Jones fault (but they weren't team leader, QBs either).

Apparently two young QB's are not allowed to play together or something like that.
I feel the same way. If you draft C.Will and you can't trade Fields. Then play him til he gets injured. What is the worst that can happen? A bunch of pros learn for the first time in pro sports history to play together? Fields balls then trade him. Fields bombs release him at the end of the season. Works for other teams.

While the packers did this because they had an aging QB and needed to move on. Bears are the opposite. Fields hasn't even had one big contract yet and then you add all the locker room issues this cause. Worst thing for them to do.

Holding onto Fields is not good for a number of reasons.
Locker room issues. JF may handle himself well but that doesn't mean other people will. You need a clean break.
You would have to keep 3 QBs active on the roster. You can't stash anyone on the PS even if they're eligible since someone could (and would) grab them for nothing.
Are you really going to have a competition when everyone knows what the result is going to be ultimately?
The fan base is already a mess. You're just going to make things worse by holding onto JF.
