+1 As Bears fans we are used to not having good receivers and think we can "get by" with DJ. I am so tired of this idea we can "get by" without great talent on offense. Some say, well, you don't get perfect talent in the NFL. But nobody is saying perfect talent is needed - but yes, great teams have great roster talent. That is how this thing works. Bears though, just don't get it as far as offense talent... but I am hopeful, and pretty confident, that Ryan Poles understands the importance of a passing offense - and receiver talent on offense.
We've been doing it for decades JABF. You want both a top 10 QB AND talent on offense? Come on man.... this is Chicago.
I know it's probably a pipe dream, but I am so hoping Kevin Warren and Ryan Poles understand that in the modern NFL offense matters. The old leather helmet days of "three yards and a cloud of dust" on offense & the Lovie Smith stuff of expecting your defense to score your points is not going to cut it. It's like a lot of things in life, in that you have to "invest" to get a "return on investment" - so if you want a great offense you'd better invest real serious resources... highest quality resources you can draft or sign if you want that unit to have sustained success.
And I just marvel over Bears fans saying things like - well most of our OL is "okay" - and it kills me when people puff out their chest and point to DJ Moore and state we have a great WR (DJ has never, not even once, made the Pro Bowl, much less been All Pro).
Why? If one of the top WR are there you go for them. All 3 would be the best WR ranked in any recent draft class if they were by themselves.
Because we have too many holes to fill and too many other positions to upgrade.
I'm probably wrong about this, but I feel like last year (first real year of the rebuild after the teardown year of 2022) was the year to go quantity over quality. And Poles did that for the most part... although he did a masterful job getting DJ. and Sweat. But now, in this 2024 draft, I feel like it's time to focus on quality more. Yes, we have a lot of holes to fill. But it is going to take 2025 to truly fill the last of them no matter what Poles does this year. You are right, there are too many to fill. But the offense needs to bring in a few elite level pieces now. Even DJ Moore, as good as we think he is, has never sniffed a Pro Bowl. Yet to Bears fans he's the 2nd coming of Jerry Rice. Why? Because we don't really know what an elite offense looks like. We don't do offense in Chicago. We don't support QBs here with the BEST talent.
We do defense. And lose a lot. Let's change that. It will take REAL talent rather than just "drafting a new kid at QB" and doing the same old shtick on offense.
Because we have too many holes to fill and too many other positions to upgrade.
Offense is more important than defense right now. Our defense is super solid. Not so much our offense
Boy, I'm far from saying our D is super solid. We don't get to the QB enough. We are not always able to stop the run game. We have issues. I would argue that neither our offense or defense puts fear into any any team, much less a SB caliber team

We do need help on defense. Unfortunately, we have greater needs on offense. Regardless of what we do at QB, we absolutely need an OC and probably a swing OG. While we may be fairly well set at tackle, I feel that Braxton Jones is at best another Charles Leno. We may have to look for a LT in 2025 or beyond.
If we could get a 2nd #1 WR, a solid OC, either a 3-tech or edge rusher and a swing OG in the draft I'd be really happy. This is obviously ignoring the QB position as I have no idea as to what Poles in planning there.

I don't think any of us would argue that. My position is just that the D is not super solid.
