Every good offense in this league more often than not has a 1a and a 1b at receiver.
+1 As Bears fans we are used to not having good receivers and think we can "get by" with DJ. I am so tired of this idea we can "get by" without great talent on offense. Some say, well, you don't get perfect talent in the NFL. But nobody is saying perfect talent is needed - but yes, great teams have great roster talent. That is how this thing works. Bears though, just don't get it as far as offense talent... but I am hopeful, and pretty confident, that Ryan Poles understands the importance of a passing offense - and receiver talent on offense.
Agreed. DJ Moore only? Recipe for disaster. He'll be double and triple teamed. You need a 1B to take the pressure off and get him open. It's football 101 and the Bears have been woefully inadequate at it for decades.

Not necessarily. But let's say this is true, if we had the same defense as in 2018 I'd be on board w/ picking a WR at no. 9. But the truth is our OL is awful and can't block which hurts the QB and the running game a lot. And outside of Sweat pretty much every one in the front seven is average at best and replaceable. We still can't get to the QB on a consistent basis.
This is why I'd go all in on Michael Pittman or Mike Evans in FA and then take OL or pass rusher at 9.

Well, FA is in a little over a month. Always interesting to see what moves they make in FA.

I keep thinking that this particular draft has more top-tier WR talent than most. We need to get one this year. I totally agree we need to fix the OL and that means more than just the center position. Jenkins is made of glass. Nate Davis was just plain bad this year. If that's his best then he needs to go... or make him a bench guy. I want to see the Bears go all-in to fix the offense. Expecting good things to happen with a new QB, with the same crap offense - well it isn't going to be any different than the past years here. Bears need to make a BIGTIME investment in their offense if they ever want to have a good one - and a successful QB1 here. I really don't care what they do with the defense in 2024. Let them ride in the back seat until 2025. Then give them some love. Fix the offense. It's time.
I am sooooooooooo sick of the poor talent on offense. I think us fans fail to realize just how bad that roster is on O. We think poor players are okay, and okay players are good. Pitiful. Just pitiful.

Poles will figure he can “get by” with something less than Harrison at WR in this draft.

Philly, San Fran, Miami, Rams, Bengals, Vikings, Chargers, Cowboys, etc. As for the offensive line, thats simply not true. The offensive line isn't "awful". The center is awful. The offensive line started out the season banged up, and that hurt. But once all the starters were playing, it was quite clear what the weak link really is. Our running game doesn't seem to have suffered much. I doubt either Pittman or Evans make it to FA...most good receivers don't...for a reason. There isn't a DE I'd take at 9.

We've been doing it for decades JABF. You want both a top 10 QB AND talent on offense? Come on man.... this is Chicago.

I like Harrison and hope if by some chance the Bears go with Fields we get him. If not and we draft a QB, then I do believe Nabers and Odunze are elite prospects. There are others I also like. So if we go with Fields we can get MJH and an elite DL guy at #9. If we draft a QB then MJH is not going to be an option and I hope we go WR at #9 and the DL option guy probably should be off the table with that pick. That's just my hope so it means nothing.
